As you know the Honda Fit does not have an installed locking gas cap, nor is there a genuine locking gas cap manufactured by suppliers for Honda that can be purchased at Honda dealers. Using a gas cap not manufactured by Honda could break the warranty. With rising gas prices, unscruplous individuals may identify the Fit as an easy way to get gas.

if you want a locking gas lid then buy Civic

you could spend another $50=$70 for locing gas gap from Honda (made for Element but fits Fit)

I bought a genuine HONDA locking gas cap from my dealer. In fact, that was one of the extras I added on my original purchase order. It was about $29 IIRC.

You can just use the genuine Honda locking gas cap. It fits the Fit just fine. I got it from one of the dealers online, either College Hills or Bernardi Parts (it was over a year ago, so I forget exactly which one). No "Check Gas Cap" messages come up or anything.

 

It locks with no problem. My check engine light has never come on. My salesman made sure to tell me to turn the gas cap till it clicks at least 3 times when I replace it.

Unlike the standard FIT gas cap, the locking cap is not tethered to the car.

I think it is exactly the same locking cap sold for the ELEMENT.

One of the on-line Honda dealers lists 2 different locking gas caps for the Fit. p/n 17680-SAA-G00 or 17670-SLN-A01. Other than a $17-$20 price differential does anyone know what the difference is?

****Received a message from the dealer...there was an error on their web site. 17670-SLN-A01 is the standard NON-LOCKING cap. Web site has been corrected.

 

i have bought a non authentic gas cap lock for my fit from Kragen...i didnt know there was a geunuine one out there, shit i want one now, just b/c it is genuine...but ive had mines for two days so far, its OKAY...the gas check lite has not cmon :knock on wood: but its temporary now that i know there is an athuntic one out there
