Those of you with 15k+
Just wanted some info on those of you in the 15,000mile range and up. What maintence have you all done? Even the usual, tire rotations and what not.
Im getting into the 8500mile range and I do my own maintenance. Oil changes, rotation, next is a rotate and balance (although Ill have new rims)
My car has already had an alignment because of my lowering springs. Im going to stay on track, oil changes at 3000miles, rotations at 6000miles, Rotate/balance at 12,000.
Hows the filter holding up, brakes, tire wear? I work at a Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep dealership and damn do those cars fall apart fast! The vans need brake pads anywhere from 10-20,000miles. I mean theyre to the wear indicator. As do their sway-bar bushings. Many of the cars need airfilters and TB services at 10,000miles (due to oil blow by). Its sick how many TSB's there are! Hubs, ABS sensors, gauge clusters, bad tires/vibrations.
Its sad how fast they fall apart. Only Chrysler Id buy would be a Grand Cherokee SRT8 or a 300c. Only cars that do not fall apart. That thread about the Caliber. HAHA! Keep me out of that. Its a FisherPrice car with the Dodge name (98% cheap plastic)
So tell me what you all have replaced? Even warranty things

17,700 miles, 56 tanks of gas, no warranty work-need that air bag work done next time I bring it in. Replaced windshield due to large crack from a rock. I due oil according to maintenance minder. Rotate my own tires and use different ones for summer/winter so not much wear to speak of. Brakes holding up fine. Cost per mile (fuel and maintenance) 9 cents. Total MPG over 11 months 37.45
well lets see. i got new rims at 20,000. Done i think 6 oil changes? i go by what the indicator tells me. Changed my brakes once and i had it all the way down 2 the indicator. Didn't get the rotor surface refinished (should have cuz now im gettin squeaks) but im not worried about it cuz it comes and goes. Never got an alignment when i lowered my car (tanabe gf210's) and no camber issues. Now im coming to the 28,000 mile mark (a little over a year, extended warranty y0!) and i'm about to change my tranny fluid and my oil and i wanna put new spark plugs in. Oh i rotate the tires at every oil change cuz it only takes 10 minutes.
warranty, umm i got the airbag thing reflashed. Oh the first day i got my car, i saw a huge tear in the drivers side weatherstripping and im like what the hell!! i took it back next day n they hassled me a lil but ordered the part under warranty and it came in a week later and it took em all day to install it...pissed me off but whatever. I remember the "dashboard squeak" and i did notice it for a week but i totally forgot about it. I even came back right now and edited my post cuz i forgot 2 add that lol.

A little over 16K, just oil changes whenever the oil life says its low and got the tires rotated the first time, but now since I have aftermarket wheels and tires I do it myself. I changed the brake fluid to Valvoline Full synthetic DOT 4. Whenever I drove down Big Bear mountain my brakes would start to fade, after I changed it they haven't faded since, even on the track.
Hope this helps

I am also at the 28k mark and I have changed my oil as the minder tells me so. I use mobil 1 or motorcraft syntetic blend 5w20 with K&N or Mobil 1 filter. I will like someone to post a DIY for changing the manual tranny oil!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to the warranty servise due to the dome light that blew off, they change it, and did the air bag re-flash, Plus they wanted to charge me like $ 280 for cleanning the TB, adjust the rear brakes and e-brake and some other shit, wich I of course say no!!.
A TB cleaning DIY would help too!!
Ok the brakes: I don't trust the factory ones, so I change them to hawk pads and fade no more!!
I rotate the tires every month, I have already bought tires twice ( plus the Toyo's (RA1).
I have to say that it is holding really good!!!!!

17+K (bought used with 5.5k) and nothing but oil changes (2 myself at 10%)....okay, airbag reflash and engine overspeed eror code deleted by friend at dealer and passeneger seat adjust cable had to be re-attatched.. brakes have slight warp after fast downhill run into Borrego Springs, will be replacing with slotted/drilled rotors soon, tires are shot in the front, perfect in the rear (I've blown off rotating, so I'll be paying the price) averaging 31-32 mpg, oh yeah, a few scratches in the crappy thin paint, otherwise no problems! Love this car!

I like what Im hearing! So far it seems that the brakes are going around 20,000-30,000k depending on drivers. Im guessing thats average?
Rear clean and adjust I would also suggest at 25,000-30,000. Reduces noise when letting off the brakes. Its very easy. Brake cleaner and a flat head is needed. Ohhh, a hammer to remove the drum cover. Spray cleaner to remove all the dust. Spin the clip 3 CLICKS and see if the drum cover slides over the shoes tightly. If it slides off without a problem then go 3 more clicks. If you pull off the drum cover and theyre already pretty tight then just clean the dust out.
TB cleaning. Removed the TB (about 4 bolts and a clamp or 2) An old toothbrush and TB cleaner. Clean the rear and front. Thats it. Use a blow gun (air compressor) and blow out/dry the cleaner. Install it. Done.
Its nice to see the Fit holds is ground. I love this car more.

Not difficult, did it at 15K, using Honda MT gearbox oil.
There is a trick for filling it tho, remove the front wheel and go through the fender well, using a manual pump and a length of tubing to fill the box. I have used manual pumps for this for years. MUCH easier than trying to fill from above. Unfortunately, I have a small handpump, so several re-fills required.
I sat on the tire, oil pump in one hand, Sleeman beer in the other......
Fill until level with fill hole.
I will do it again later, at 15K it was good and clean, so no need to do it at 30K IMO.
Also do the air filter every 15K, and will follow the book otherwise.

Im not sure if our Fits have it but Honda has a GenII trans fluid. Suppose to give way smoother shifts in all weather conditions.
07+ come with it stock. You wouldnt really know if the Fit has it or not.

All I know is what is in there now is much better than before?
The old bottle is in the workshop, if I can get off my rear and do something today, I will go and find out what it was I put in there.
True. The best was a numbnut that worked at the shop owned by a friend that left a beer on some horizontal surface under the hood of a W126 Merc and shut the hood. Had to explain the "dent" in the hood to the customer.....
As a new owner, I have to agree. Someone here had 7,500 miles showing on break-in oil and the minder says 40%? Thats crazy.
It isn't crazy.
Modern oils, especially synthetics, can go a lot farther than that. Your owner's manual says specifically that you should not change the initial (break-in) oil early. Honda knows a thing or two about engines and oils, so I trust them. A lot.
After the first oil change, if you want to change your oil more often, it won't hurt anything. But it isn't necessary.
Don't be afraid. This ain't the old days of Quaker State 30-weight in the Fairlane 500 every 5,000 miles. And by the way, I don't know of any manufacturer who ever asked for oil changes more often than every 5K miles. The 3K thing came from the quickie oil-change places, who would like to have your money in 3/5 the time that they would otherwise get it.
Five thousand miles was an arbitrarily-picked number back in the day, to use as a rule of thumb, because there was no other way to gauge when it was time for an oil change (the technology didn't yet exist for things like the "Maintenance Minder"). As you and I now know, the style of driving matters more than the number of miles. The Maintenance Minder, while far from ideal, is better than a simple number of miles, because it takes revs into account.
Better technology, better engines, better oils, longer intervals and still longer-lasting engines. And for our tree-hugging brethren, it offers the added advantage of creating less toxic waste.
So that's a win, win, win, win, win, win situation.

Had the car a year and just hit 25k. Have done 4 oil changes, 4 rotate and balances, and I just had the front brakes replaced as they were starting to go. I replaced the stock air filter with a KN for economic purposes, those OEM filters are expensive. Other than that I haven't had to do anything and it still runs great.
I bought the car in May of 2006, and have put 26,817 miles on it already. I've since had 4 oil changes, 2 tire rotations, and a "B1" maintenance (check manual page 173 for details). I did have the K&N replacement air filter in until I got the T1R intake, about 1,500 miles ago.
Like others, I've experienced the super annoying dashboard creak/squeak during the colder months. The tread on my tires is starting to get fairly low. I'm not sure if I'm crazy, but I feel as though my brakes have become really worn. I need to have that checked out. I have several chips in the front and a couple dings in the back, along with a gnarly scrape on the passenger rear side as of last week--I'm an idiot that apparently forgets to look when in reverse.
Prior to getting the intake, I finally started getting decent fuel economy in the 32-34mpg range. After installing the intake, however, I seem to be one of the few that decreased my fuel economy--I'm back around 28mpg.
All in all, I love this car. I just wish I knew more about regular maintenance, so I could perform it myself.

48,000 on the clock and I was just told that I am almost in need of new front brake pads. It is a manual, I downshift a bit and a lot of the miles are highway. I am going to do them on the next oil change, probably around 53,000. I try to do oil every 5000, but have been relying on the maintenance minder recently. I am so busy that I really haven't paid attention to how many oil changes I have had so far, but I'd guess 7 or 8.

Just did an oil change today. Checked my front pads, still look almost new. 200miles shy of 15,000miles.
Filled up last night. For about 3 months now my MPG has been 32-35mpg.
Im more than pleased with this car.
No noises as people are explaining. (besides wipers, now gone) My paint is holding up great; besides swirls which are my fault. No chips on the front bumper buy TINY ones on the hood. I drive the highway every morning and afternoon. Little things here and there also, tiny ding on driver side front door thats not noticeable and a tiny scratch on the driver side rear door.
Little interior wear. Where a dead pedal should be the carpet looks a little worn. Ive also notice slight wear on the bottom of the steering wheel. The leather area around the spoke. To reduce it Im trying to drive with a different had position. Hahaha!
Steering wheel wear is a big pet peeve of mine. I might take it in and get it replaced if it gets worse.
Have you made/read the clutch threads? Is your clutch holding up good.....
