aftermarket muffler such as

wanted to know if anyone has put on an aftermarket muffler such as flowmaster or chrome roundones like from ebay and how did it affect performacne instead of the very pricey ones that are like $200 to 400 ..
like cuttin off the original muffler and clamping on one after the bolt on curved piece

this topic will probably get moved to exhaust really soon but i find that chopping mufflers can result in a loud exhaust like my first try. But really, the spoon n1 axle back or Aspec i think are worth the cost.

most of those really just produce more noise. power gains are pretty small if any. my friend has one on his Infiniti J30. it didn't seem any faster, just a heckuva lot louder. if you are going to buy one of those, try to get a silencer.

From my experience (Preludes...) mufflers do almost nothing for performance. MAYBE 1 WHP... If you're looking for a performance upgrade you should be looking into at LEAST an axle-back. At least then you can get the B-Pipe and have a cat-back eventually... Maybe 2-4 whp with an axleback depending on what you get... We need more dyno charts.
