So 90mph is a BRICK WALL!!

Maybe not general Fit talk but I put it here until it gets moved as it is talking about the Fit...in General! NOTE: I DO NOT CONDONE THIS AT ALL.

I was on a stretch of desolate road the other day. Taking my lunch break since I am working from home right now. I stop the car and put it in "S" mode and start in first gear. I just wanted to see how the car gets up and if it will pass 100mph. For the Miami Folks, I am sure you know that Okeechobee is a rather safe place to do this. There were no cars out so don't chastize me.

Nonetheless, I turned on the ol GPS and for the most part, spot on. I went by the GPS guidance as I felt it was more accurate. I started in 1st and revved the car out and slapped the paddle to 2nd. 2nd lasted a little longer than 1st as 3rd lasted a little bit longer than 2nd! It was when I hit 4th that the car fell flat on it's face. 90mph took FOREVER to get to and passing 90 got to be a rough time. I finally hit 93.7mph to which I figured I would run into contact with someone at somepoint soon or run out of road. No 100mph. No real reason to...I just wanted to do my own test of it.

My only power mods are a T1R intake and a Skunk2 50mm catback. You would think something would give a little more topend. But alas, I am stuck to wait for forced induction.

Has anyone actually went over 100mph? I am not talking about street racing as I gave that up years ago when almost going to jail. Although I could have went to jail for my "test", believe me when I say no one was in any danger except myself. I just wanted to "test" the car...So what's everyone else's experiences?

Mine (5sp manual) runs past 100 w/ no problem. It takes a while to get there, but hey, It's a Fit S, not Si...

I got mine to 110 fairly quicker than my expectations but it really didn't stretch much farther than that. I might have been on a very subtle slope but past 100 isn't too difficult to get past in the fit. Is yours automatic?

Yes, thanks for reminding me. Compared to my previous 350awhp Evo 9 and my previous 500whp SRT-4, I can definitely understand that!

However, it was just a test to see what it could do. Just feels like it falls flat...It is amazing going from high boosted cars to a Fit...But it is still the best by far of both of the previous cars...Just for the simple reason of comfort and handling although the other 2 handled beautifully as well.

And yes, it is an auto and I was "Slapping paddles". I wanted it to rev out further than the auto's program would let it. I am not worried about going fast. I used to race the other two cars often. At sanctioned events..not on the street. People who know me ask me if I am going to race the fit and I say Hell No!

Although I will boost it once a solution comes out.

Just wanted to see other's impressions and maybe I should have gotten the manual but oh well.

I have gotten mine up to 110 with some room to go faster. But alas, I have a M/T as well and I am not sure if your situation is just an A/T thing. Also, I don't know how accurate the speedometer is on our vehicles.

Using a quick conversion (1.609mp/h = 1km/h)

I have easily sailed past that mark, my car achieved 99mph (160km) in a very short amount of time on a test run I did a while back. One thing to note is my tires are larger diameter than stock, so tehcnically per revolution I was covering more ground and probably going faster than that. To be honest I felt like I could have pushed it a lot harder than that too. Manual of course, not a slushbox.

Yeah, I may be stuck with the atrocities of the A/T but the sport mode does give it a little broader of a band.

I was using GPS to calculate my speed so I took the speedometer factor out.

Haha yeah these things are far from speed machines lol. Ive had mine up to 100MPH according to the speedo, it felt like there was nothing left after 100..

I think its much more fun for a Fit to go hit up some nice mountain roads, despite not have much power the car does handle really well!

yea of course. many times. i did wat you did. i shifted with the paddles but it didnt get me over 100 with them. When i put it into D it was way easier to get over 100. I got it to 115 many times. I4 out of orlando florida towards sanford is a straightaway. rarely any cops. when its night time, i floor it. the fit is definitely capable of getting over 100 mph easily with D not S. youll have to shift later around redline if you wanna reach 100 with paddles. you have to stay in 4 until it redlines then shift to 5. 5th gear will be faster that way. hope this helps.

Thanks for the info...Yeah...I redlined each time...Never redlined 4th though....Maybe I will find an open area to play.

Haven't checked in a while, I thought Jackson had a kit out? Or are they still in testing phase? I don't keep tabs because my Fit just gets me to work and back, so the after market extra hp stuff doesnt really apply to me. Im happy to zip around slower and get 30+mpg.

i've been over 100mph many times in my 1.3 auto GD1 (using my GPS to check the speed),

i think when you use S mode, it is like downshifting in a M/T so it revs higher but top speed is lower. I use S mode a lot when over taking slower vehicles.

In D mode i find getting to 100 is ok... to get to 100 quicker i need to use S mode to about 50-60mph then D mode to get to 100.

Talking Passing alligators like falling elevators

I also have gone over 100 once in my unmodified A/T Fit. It was in "D" not "S". When in "S" the car won't shift to 5th gear on its own, but if you were paddling and got up into 5th gear, it should have easily gone over 90 and even over 100 with a little more to spare. (I doubt the stock M/T Fit will do 100 in 4th either.)
My speedometer seems to be very accurate, having compared it to GPS on several occasions. It is a lot more accurate than my old Camry or Mazda speedos, and infinitely more accurate than the one on my Honda motorcycle. This is the first car I have owned whose speedometer I trusted this much.
Try it again, in "D", and let us know what happens. I am willing to bet a dollar that you'll hit 100 or so.
I DO condone it, by the way. If a car speeds in Alligator Alley, and there's nobody around to shoot radar at it, does it break the law? The gators almost never call the cops. However, they can make awful speedbumps.

07 honda fit top speed is drag limited to 110mph.

with a manual and some tailwind, you can probably get somewhere into the teens.

auto and some headwind, u might not even hit 100.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does "drag limited" mean? The drag of the wind resistance?
I doubt mine will do 110, but it ain't exactly a Ferrari anyhow, so that's OK. I am too old to get much of a kick out of risking my life anymore. I like gas mileage better.

there is drag limited, and gear limited.

gear limited means you have more power, but your tranny wont rev any higher.

while drag limited is pretty much wind resistence, engine cant produce anymore power to push against the wind resistence.

as for ferraris, lowest top speed on all current model ferrari is something like 196mph with the f430.
