Why a Honda?

In addition to our 2007 Fit we also own a 2,000 Accord Coupe V6 which we purchased in September of 1999. Honda has had an extended warranty on the automatic transmission for this car up to 100,000 miles and seven years. Unfortunately, my car began to exhibit symptoms of the problem at 92,000 miles this month which is past the warrantee period.

Our local Honda dealer, David McDavid of Frisco Texas, got Honda to replace the transmission under the warrantee and had them pay for a rental car for three days because the technician decided that the car was unsafe to drive in with the old transmission.

While they had the car I had them replace the timing belt, motor mounts, spark plugs, and do a 90,000 mile inspection. The Accord is now good for at least another five years which should get me to about 150,000 miles. That's why we own only Honda automobiles.

Sounds like you found somthing that works.

though young, i have owned 5 ef's, i love them. I recently was able to upgrade to a newer honda. I expect 300,000 as did a few of my other civics (2 of em) last.

Reliability is the WORD! Since new I have only had to replace one part, the alternator. Like any car I have replaced consumable things like tires, batteries, and brake pads.

That's truly unusual, I would like to know how many Honda's have gone 200,000 miles without any major repairs. What other car companies would honor an extended warrantee for a defect after it had expired?

holy crap, i didn't even know people had such road times on there hands. If i were to do f1 or lemans for a living i would definitely tear up 200+ miles a day. If not thats a pain in the ass of a job to do, unless he gets paid bank. Thats just as bad as being a trucker. Honda's last e'nuff said, even though i would wish they build a family oriented sports sedan, ala the 335i for acura at least. There shit is getting bland besides the new accord now thats hot, bimmer hot.

I went with the Honda for three reasons:

1) I bought a loaded 1987 Prelude Si MT in 1995 with 87k on it. The car was bulletproof and I sold it to buy a 1974 Mercedes 450SL with 190k while in the depths of a Benz addiction. I have always regretted that decision.

2) I like the 'no option' deal. I bought the Sport, got a bunch of cool standard features and did not have to play games with "packages" that made me feel like I got kicked in mine.

3) Resale value.
