Hit speed bump a tad to fast.

Driving late at night and hit a speed bump kinda fast. Not sure how fast but i hard the front shocks engage then a second loud bump...and then the same for the rear. I got so upset at myself thinking i might have hurt my poor little fit. How much damage could i have done to the suspension?

that "bump" is when your shocks fully compress and you hit a thing called the "bump stop". this is to protect the shock from going all the way to the end and being damamged. HOw fast were u going? u can't really cause that much damage unless u were going liek 40. Do u have stock wheels? the thickness of the tire helps protect the rims and takes some absorbtion. If you have wheels 16+, then its a possibility you bend the wheels, but if ur factory wheels, ur okay don't worry so much.

^Nicely put! You probly didnt do too much damage if your running stock wheels/suspension..It must have been a good sized speed bump.

Oooh man thank you thank you. Yeah im running on stock sport wheels. I must have been going around 10 but it was one of those stupid really narrow but tall speedbumps. Man hearing that just makes me feel so much better. I try and baby my car and when i do stuff like this i come here to get peace of mind

The price we pay for driving our little Fits who are so low to the ground. Sounds like your car will be fine and darn those speed bumps anyway.

I too have hit a speed bump too fast.
It was in a 30km/t zone and I was probably doing 35-40, not sure. I was driving and not paying to much attention to the speed after I had climbed up a hill and the roads flats out an then after about 100m there is a speed bump. I hit the brake, but too late. The front spoiler hit the asphalt after the front end was on its way down on the other side of the speed bump.

That particular speeed bump is a bit nasty too, it is a bit steeper than the normal ones. So you'll have to drive even slower over this one.

I'v actually done this two times on the same spot. But the second time was not so hard. So now the front spoiler is a bit scraped underneath and the paint is gone in the grooves. Luckily it is just plastic so it wil never rust

But I cant remember if I heard the suspension making any thumping noise, just remember the scraping sound from the front spoiler...
