Not that is will end up in the Fit.

Isn't there a current diesel Fit anyway across the pond?

There will be a small diesel Honda (not a Fit), primarily targeted to Europe. I am sure Honda is also eyeing the NA market. However, while diesel is shoo-in for Europe, NA is a lot trickier marketing ground. Honda may wait for Toyota to make a move on that one before pulling their own trigger.

By the way, about the 1.3 L, there is no chance of that coming to North America. Many North American drivers drive at highway speeds as a matter of daily activity, but expressway travels are not that common in a place like Japan. In the latter kind of environment, 1.3 L is more than plenty to propel the Fit. Not so in NA.

You'll also need the CVT too
AND after the swap, this will DEFEAT the purpose of saving money

agreed America needs some really small engines. We must get out the bigger is better AND SAFER mentality.
