Looks like I'll be visiting the local dealer, too - mine's just below the first 10K units for 08. No biggie, I'm glad to let them make a little $$ off Mama Honda rather than me. They use salt down here now, too, so I don't know of any place that gets some snow/ice that doesn't use the stuff.

dbcmaster, I just want to say thanks for posting those recall notices, and to comment that those are GREAT pieces of information. Nice documentation and explanation of the problem. FWIW, the link for "A07-011" isn't working, something about it not being a pdf or something when I try to open the file. Any thoughts?

Still nothing on HondaOL about this or the SRS reflash issue...

there was a recall a few months ago if i remember right, or just sometime between now and when the 07 fits came out. it had to do with the airbags deploying a fraction of a second too early during an accident and required that you bring your car in to get it reprogrammed/reflashed. https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...tml#post201824

Looks like the SRS reflash only affects 07 Fits as well, so I guess I don't need to worry about that part at least.

While I don't like the fact that I have to deal with this recall issue, I do like that Honda was big enough to own up to it and fix the problem. Even though many people might never have any issues with their car, Honda has enough integrity to say "let's get this fixed", instead of just sweeping the problem under the rug so to speak....

Hrm. Wonder if having my remote power turn-on wire for my amp running in that track is going to be a problem? Anyone with an aftermarket setup and wiring running down that left side had any troubles with dealers?

wow thanks for the heads-up on this issue. I'll be going to the dealership soon to get it fixed. Although this seems to affect more of the northeastern states, a safety recall is a safety recall

First it is not a recall at this point it is a bulletin. Which means to check for it in certain states. If you are in California your service advisor may not even get this bulletin since it doesn't pertain to your state. If your state does not salt raods in the winter this is not an issue. the wires will not corrode with just water it needs to be a water and salt mix.

I have to disagree with you on your point- since Honda has no control over where a car is used after the original sale, repairs under a service bulletin regarding safety issues would be honored by any dealer in any state. And just because there may not be salt used everywhere in California for melting snow, salt is deposited by the Pacific ocean everywhere along hundreds of miles of coast. That will eventually bring about the corrosion and safety issues covered by the bulletin.

Then why does the first line of the bulletin say "Safety Recall"?

Honda can track where a vehicle was originally sold and therefore recognize the VIN of a vehicle sold in NY that has moved to CA. Every new vehicle is registered by the selling dealer with Honda. So if you bought you car car in the affected state and resold it 5 years later in Arizona the VIN would be recognized as a vehicle needing the repair.

A bulletin means that the work can be done either whenthe customer comes in for regular service or if they request it. But the bulletin may not be sent to every region. If you are not believed to be affected the dealer may not be given permission to fix it.

Since you don't live in a "highlighted state", when you get your recall notice (they will start being mailed Dec. 17), just ignore it.

i just got back from taking my fit in for this recall.

turns out the dealership needs parts for it, and they were sent 5 sets of parts for the 5 fits they just got in stock, which they needed to install before they could sell them.

so he told me to just check next time i get my oil changed, because he most likely won't be getting the parts for another month. in my case it's not super-urgent that it gets replaced, as nothing is actually wrong.

really, they could've told me that before i wasted an hour in their waiting area
