Found a 2007 White fit BUT,,,,,,

My dealer told me that one of the tech's backed it into a ploe and smashed the hatch, broke the rear window and cracked the bumper. Said i could have the car for 1000.00 under invoice. Would anybody take there deal? Any input would be great. It's a auto.

No...that is a pretty big accident, smashing the hatch, breaking the glass, and cracking the bumper. $1000 is not enough to compensate for such a large impact even if it is fixed correctly.

Well my feeling is if the accident record will not show up on carfax, then yes. The resale value is not going to be impacted because no one but you will know about the damage. It sounds like as long as the trunk, rear wiper, etc. still work the damage is relatively superficial.

If that's the case I'd probably take it, go for a $1500 discount.

$1K under invoice? That is ridiculous! They need to fix it and knock off AT LEAST the amount that it would cost you to have it repaired. Fo sho!

Man! That must have been an EXPLODING pole.

I weigh in with Illusive and Osborne. $1000 is not enough. I'd offer $15K out the door, and their guarantee that they'll fix it if it leaks or whistles within a year.

Best to you.

This seems to be the most reasonable offer.

Even if it is 100% fixed they could have done a crappy job or because it was damaged theres no gurantee that it'll stay that way for to long. Did you negotiate with your dealership yet about our suggestions?

x2. its not necessarily about the fact that its fixed, but once its been fixed you never know what kind of damage may have been done underneath body panels that will continue to rust or be deformed. Plus you lose your vin tags that were on the hatch and rear bumper. So anyone who would be looking to purchase the car from you in the future is going to see that and know that you don't have the absolutly original bumpers and know something is wrong

I love the white Fits, even though mine is blue. If I had the purchase to make all over again, it would probably be a white one.

"Fixed" ain't NEW. Offer 'em the $15K OTD. The MoFo was wrecked.

if it's already fixed than i think that would be an ok deal. you should make sure that if there's any leaks or problems, they will still be liable for them. and damn, at what speed was the tech backing up the fit to damage it so badly? on second thought, that's pretty bad.

If the fix wasn't done right or leads to other problems you have three years to take it back and get it made right.

If you plan to keep the car long term then the effect on resale value will be minimal if any. If you are concerned about resale value it makes no sense to buy an 07 in the first place.

If white is your color how many other new whites are left? Not many I bet.

You are saving $1600 off MSRP and Honda has a financing offer on 07 fits right now.

Assuming the car still counts as new and the accident has no impact on the warranty I say go for it.

according to Hondapartsdeals.com:

GLASS SET, RR. WINDSHIELD (rear glass and all clips + rubber) - $563.16
TAILGATE (just the metal piece) - $296.81
FACE, RR. BUMPER - $148.39
total - $1008.36

and if they broke the spoiler too, add another $203.72

Of course, that's not including any miscellaneous parts like clips and whatever that the dealer may have also gotten, plus labor and paint. I'd say go for $1,500-2,000 off.

The hatch must have a sweet spot that causes the window to break. A friend of mine was rear ended in his Fit. (white too, go figure)
It was at the right rear corner. Crushes the rear bumper and the rear hatch. The hatch was pinched from the tag area over. His window didnt break.

Ive seen other Fits in rear accidents, windows smashed and not much done to the hatch. The damage is in them middle though.

Tell them to sell it at the price of a Sport 5speed and youll take it.

if the hatch was replaced (not pulled and bondoed- the only way you'd be able to check for sure is to have them remove the tailgate cover) and there was no damage done to the rear panel adjacent to the spare tire well or parallel to the rear bumper (the unibody) i'd go for it.

Your call, but

Keep your CRV or buy another Fit, unless you can get a much better deal.
It's an '07, Man. You should be getting that kind of discount now, even if it had never been wrecked. But it has.
You would be showing serious bad judgement to take the $1K deal just because of the car's color. You have to use your head, not your heart, when buying machinery, which is all a car is.
However, it's your call. I just hope you will make a wise one.
