Thumbs up Thank You to Honda

The Fit isn't perfect, but you have created a true gem for the money. The more I read about the motor I realize what a jewel it is. For such a versatile car in such a small package I personally think it's pretty quick and a real driver can extract a lot of fun from the car. All it needed was the capable aftermarket sport muffler I installed and in my opinion it needs nothing else. I thought I'd never again be as happy with a daily driver as I was with my '90 Civic Si, but I am. Sincere thanks to Honda, in the name of Soichiro.

Bang per $

Honda's attention to detail is superb. Little things like the way the switches feel. GM needs to study the Fit. This is, in America, the bottom of the Honda line. Honda's bottom of the line is a killer product. That says it all. The car is well thought out. When I placed the $500 deposit/order for the car I was filled with buyers remorse/self doubt but now that I've owned the vehicle for three months I'm thrilled with my choice. I don't think there's a better bang per $ out there!

Where did you get that quote from Soichiro? Do you know of any good sources of writing about him?

Fahren in seiner schönsten Form... Ferdinand Porsche i think... dont quote me though. Sounds like something he would say, you know, driving in its most beautiful form, he was a tad on the conceited side about his cars LOL

Hey, Randy, that’s right, Ferry Porsche’s motto, “The most beautiful form of driving.” My last car before the Fit was a 1987 911 Carrera Coupe that I bought in Chicago in ’04 and drove to Alaska and learned to work on it with the help of forums like Rennlist.com and PelicanParts.com. I’m half German and so my first forum username was der Mond, which I have kept. When I got married my wife and I used the symbolism of the unity of the Sun and Moon, only non-traditionally as she is the Sun and I the Moon. You are the first person ever in about 6 forums I belong to who commented on what it means. The Porsche was a lifelong dream realized, as I tweaked the heck out of it and drove it 30K miles. I have never experienced a more pure, and beautiful, form of driving. Revving an air-cooled 3.2 at wide-open throttle to redline, screaming behind the rear seats, is the kind of experience I think every German boy should have. I believe Porsche and Honda to be compliments of each other, companies that tried to extract the most power, efficiency and great driving experience out of every car they built with the lightest weight and fewest parts. They both have a whole lot of parts now, but they are still two companies that believe in continual evolution towards excellence. Ferry was always a pretty level-headed guy who also did race, and as I understand it Soichiro was a hotheaded alcoholic who mangled himself in race crashes and died of cirrhosis of the liver, but what a spirit he had and what a legacy he has left! Keep the shiny side up….
Dennis
