best handling FF

Hell I think the regular Si(2 or 4 door) will do,TSX also,I think will
Do you guys not notice the massive amounts of body roll the fit has?

#22
I think the TSX has more body roll than the Fit Remember weight has alot to do with body roll. Does the fit sport have the same susp. as the Base model? I've seen Fit sports do really well in Stock trim against modded cars at auto X
#23
No, because I have a Progressive rear sway bar.

Think about the competition
tsx v. 3 series v.C class
fit v. versa?yaris?lol

your comparsison is interesting, because aside from the fact that tsx's usually get eaten up by stock 3 series) because you are now throwing in cars that are RWD.
the slalom test is what usually is a good indication of how well a car controls its body roll.
the fit actually does it better than the base versions of all the cars you just mentioned, and it does better than the si that some have mentioned.
what the fit doesn't do well in, is grip, which is an unfortunate side effect of tires.
the fit handles better than anything in its class, and can out-slalom anything in the class above it (mazda 3, civic, sentra et al) and is about on par if not better than the sportier versions of these cars. (si, mazdaspeed, se-r). where it gets beaten is the grip numbers and acceleration.
a couple more things:
1. the 'cheap skates' comparo that car and driver did with the famous 'fit is faster than a corvette in the lane change' deal IS true. But this isn't a good indicator of handling...it just shows that the fit can change directions quickly, thanks to a super quick steering rack.
2. the mugen si has actually been proven to handle not as well as the stock si with the optional michelin pilot sport tires. its a tick slower to 60, and aside from looks and a slighlty better slalom number, it grips less. (see car and drivers review.)
oh and it costs 30k.
#27
it actually has very little for its class, and for a car in general. its no lotus, but still admirable for a such an inexpensive car.
handling is more than numbers though, so it would probably be best to say that the fit is as easy to toss around as some of these cars and puts up a good slalom (as good as them) but just doesn't grip as hard.
actually the fit gets a lot of comparisons to the mini, which takes all the good things about the fit and amplifies them even more. (point and go steering, even less body lean, but still not an amazing amount of grip.)

yeah I dont think that is the best indicator, but it is still one none the less. Changing directions quickly is great...unless its unecessarily
squirrely.
I have heard that too! It was a bit surprising at first, then the idea of fading into fashion over function starts to set in like many things tend to do.
Here is the funny thing about body roll. IMH(of most H)O I think the Fit has very little of itcompared to most cars in similar situations and day to day driving. Butwhen pushed harder or really hard it rolls a bunch more. Well most of those other cars cannot even get to those particular limits.
Imagine if youdid not expand the width and length of those cars but raised the roof (hahaaa) to get similar height as the fit they would be even sloppier!
Imagine if you lowered the roof hieght of the Fit to the other cars...It
would be even more on rails. (I know this is sill to say but, Its impressive
when you consider the Fits native capacity)
I have a Consumer reports mag that list a bunch of performance
properties of cars, and I will look it up and post what matches or beats
the Fit...hopefully I can find it.

found the CR GUIDE!....i am more organized than I thought! hahaa

Solid gold!
FIT SPORT-56 mph
Acura TSX- 52.5
The TSX is a solid car don't get me wrong but it's not levels and levels above for handling. Plus it weighs a ton so that will hold it back for sure. 15.7 1/4 mile time with a K24. Now that spells heavy.

I don't know what an FF is if its not Formula Ford but I will say that the Fit is the best handling of the 3 econo sedans - Yaris, Versa, and Fit. Its not the fastest or roomiest; that goes to the Versa from tours on track with all 3 but if you take out the long straights it wins hands down.
When I get thru mine will have 1/2" lowered springs, LSD, better shockson front (rears already better with airlifts HD (we haul a couple of heavyweights in rear occasionally and like to adjust for them), 17" wheels with 205/40x17 tires, and disc brakes all around. Then we'll see just how well it handles around VIR.
