The one thing everyone should look out for is after a year or two the paint underneath will say the same(not much fading because no direct sunlight)and when taking off the car it look's very noticable.I tried to get one on my CLK for long trip's and MB doesn't even sell them and the aftermarket doesn't really either.

i dont know if tire shine is good for that bra. maybe you should use some vinyl protectant instead.

don't overdo it though. I put a nice coat of shine on the Intergra's bra and when it rained, it streaked all over the car. When I did it, it seemed better to coat it real good and then wipe off the excess with a dry lint free cloth.

hey grouser if you want to, you can try 303 aerospace protectant. people say it's good, i don't know if it really is but it seems to work pretty well. and you can use it on the interior dash and exterior trim of the car too. i got a bottle from kragen or autozone, i can't remember, but it's pretty expensive. i probably got ripped off though...i'm sure you can find it cheaper online or somewhere else haha.

yeh, i also agree on the post above about being very careful about
the paint underneath. it tends to cloud up when there's too much
moisture under there. also gets scuffed up.

i dont know why dealers even sell these bra's still considering how much
softer paints are these days. they should only offer clearbra.

yeah i use that stuff for my headlights, tail lights, and fog lights.

to me i think its worth it. it has uv protectant so my headlights wont turn yellow after awhile. and it really does help keep the dust off them head lights.

i love it, its not that expensive compared to meguiars and stuff.

Tire shine isn't really all that safe on tires either. It won't kill you, but it does potentially shorten the life of your tires (important to consider if you park your car outdoors most of the time and don't drive a lot of miles).

Talking Shine on, Bra!

There's also Mother's "Back To Black" and Meguiar's black-stuff detailer, whose name I can't remember. Those will make your black stuff look newer. Leather and vinyl conditioner should work, too.
But these other guys are right. If you keep a bra on your car, you will need to have one on there whenever you decide to sell the car.
Braless rules!

I've argued over and over about the use of a bra,,,
So I don't want to start another war over it,,,suffice it to say,,,all the worries and damage that you hear about using a bra are true,,,my point has always been if you use the bra you must take care of it to prevent the problems everyone else has when they just throw it on and leave it,,,
DO'S AND DON'TS;
-DON'T Leave it on when wet
-DON'T drive very far in heavy rain with it on,,,stop to take it off
-DO keep a two or three layer of wax buffed out under the bra.
-don't leave it on if your car sits in the sun unprotected
-never put a dirty bra on a car,,blow or wash it out and let it dry
-never put one on a dirty car
-DO take the bra off as much as possible and clean the bra and the car (dirt and crap gets between the bra and paint so don't let it build up)

it's ALOT of work to use a bra and not ruin the paint,,but IMHO the protection from larger rock chips is woth the trouble, no clear bra will protect the paint from the bigger rocks as well as the thick vinyl bra. and the cost is MUCH less then the clear. This is just the reason I use a bra, and have no real complaints other than it is alot of work, but I really don't mind. If I could change one thing (and this is one of the reasons the clear bra is better in this respect) is there is no protection higher on the front hood,,,I think the clear bra goes all the way up, even more on the fenders and A pillars. But for me the cost was prohibative,,,,,

Grouser,
You are exactly right. As long as you are one who will expend the extra effort, a car bra is a fine thing. I personally am just too lazy to do it right, so I don't do it. Most people are lazier, like me, and for those people, a car bra is not a good idea. I have read the previous threads on this, but I did not remember that it was you who knew how to be a bra-owner.
Plus, I had an irresistible opportunity to say, "braless rules" in context!
