Hypermileage - Tried it?
Was wonder why those that have been Hypermiling have not take the time to make an entry into the CleanMPG web site for you Fit? CleanMPG
I plan to register and stick it to them with my 1st fill 38.4mpg

it's funny to me that when i tell people i drive "granny style", it's actually called hypermiling!!! haha.
i did drive like that for quite a while, just to challenge my fit to get the best mileage. when i got 42 mpg on 2 consecutive tanks, i felt i reached my limit. now i gun it like a maniac-much more fun

From everything I've read on here it seems 6000 is a magic number, when everyone seems to start showing improved mileage. I have not yet reached that, but fuel economy is always logged so it will be charted.
I tried P&G today and for my commute it's no good for me. Worse than that, after maybe 20 stop/starts the mpg on the scanner was 34avg for this normal commute that gets 36+ with a steady 19 miles at 65mph.
That said, I need to call the scanner folks today and ask some questions. When I shut the eng off I did turn the ign back to on, so other than some brief total off times driving and maybe 4 total off times when stopped at a light and the brief time when rolling doing the P&G, I can't explain why around 2 miles are missing from my normal 26 mile ride as reported on the scanner. I plan to look closer at this.
I can def agree with Tyler. It does take the fun out of driving. I try to hypermile on every other fill up when I can. Commuting of 100 miles round trip to and from work can be really really boring if you hypermile all the time. It can put you to sleep, personal experience. Interesting that some folks has broken the 40MPG. I haven't yet and was curious how fast are most of them going when they get 40+MPG.
, one of the basic hypermilling Techniques. You would wreck if you goofed off for more than 10'. It's a great deal of work and I tried it today for the 1st time. It's no good on any street with med to heavy traffic. It invites road rage when slow under the limit and your blocked when going over by traffic.
I need to try some of the other Advance tech for sure.
I did some 1 sec drafting in the 65mph range. Large truck with containers. This was on about 70% of my normal 19mile drive on the free-way part of my commute. I entered the road at 36mpg on my scanner and when I exited it was over 43. I have never seenn that kind of MPG to data and of all the techniques like this one the best. Availability of the target truck is the real issue of course...
Yesterday / last night I went to the parents house - 160 mile round trip. Rather than torturing the car with a lot of pulse and glide, I tried to drive steady at the average speed it would amount to: about 52.5, and only gliding in sections I know would last for 20+ seconds. Sure enough I was up to about 230 miles before the fuel gauge went below half - about the same as with pulse and gliding the entire trip. I'll see how this translates next time I get gas (which might be a while).
Congrats. I think if you factor in the danger of the P&G and the toll on your FIT, it's a no brainer.
I wish I could travel at 50 or 55.
It's just not possible in SE Fla.
@ 65 I'm already putting my Fit and self at risk for Road Rage catalyst by 18 wheelers, SUV's and Red Necks.
