i love my current gen fit.
this new fit regardless of the gain in hp and torque and the new chassis has really killed the name.and the idea thats its now being marketed towards the female class (which the previous never lacked in targeting) is absurd too.
I cant say a picture does a full justice but it makes me deterred

/end rant.
Huh? The new Fit is fractionally, and I mean FRACTIONALLY, larger then the current gen, so hardly a minivan. There are numerous improvements in the chassis and engine over the current gen, and with the RS, Honda's pushing the concept of a sporty sub-compact hatchback even harder than ever.

My view at least is the Fit is the replacement for the ever-so-desired CRX. A sporty subcompact of its time, if the fit is to be stretched and widened anymore than its current gen than we aren't in so much of a subcompact category anymore, then tack on the much higher price being predicted and we've substantially left the ballpark.
I'm certainly not downing those who are interested in it, it is different. But I personally think the extra boost in power isn't the most needed feature. And a CVT + VTEC sounds like an extremely jerky ride to be honest.

But all of this is yet to be seen.

indeed it was...but versatility is whats in now...

They measure subcompactness in weird ways not just exterior or interior...go figure. But relatively speaking we most definately are...especially in America.

Many things have, inflation, status, life sucks...but the more that ppl buy into this "Fit ideal" the better things may become. The good alternatives are few.

Agreed! I hate how many companies justify the same MPG just because they were able to achieve more horsepower! Thats Flipping backwards, keep the horsepower and boost the efficiency and thus MPG...but this all seems to be moot anyway ...and there are other needed things aswell

I be uber confused with that one! Sorry, I would figure that would be the antithesis of jerky...but idunno, maybe unsatisfying...but jerky?

But all of this is yet to be seen.
peace...

CVT+VTEC=ehhh

The new 09's are being manufactured of course with Honda's VTEC and now with CVT. Continuously Variable Transmissions, yes they are meant to extend the life of the trans. but wow are they quite jerky in lows and highs, and as you might know the VTEC's valve timing does somewhat of a kick when driving too, so to have an engine and trans both with delayed or timed reactions you can expect an EXTREMELY jerky ride. Unless of course Honda pushes out the $$$ for a CVT control system, then we're back to the issue of price

again I might be wrong this is all to be seen as of now.

cheers

In the market to purchase a New fit or civic---Was going to wait for the new ugly 09 but---ah not sure about that now as it might be more exspensive and it looks like a stupid Minivan.
