Cigerette lighter power whiel driving

It's comme to my attention that trying to use the cigerette lighter as a source of power in the car dosen't work (whiel driving). Why is that?

Umm.. not sure what you're asking.. if you mean to actually light a cigarette or just extract power from it, but I use the powersource all the time while on the road..

to extract power from, it only works when the ignition is on (not the car)?

i use my cigarette light for my radar detector and phone charger all the time, no problems. maybe you blew a fuse... or maybe your car's not on... while driving... in which case you have more serious issues...

Same here. I got my GPS plugged in during long road trips and it charges just fine while driving. Check the fuse.

If the fuse continues to blow after you swap it, look into the outlet to check for a coin, or something similar. That was a main reason for them to continue to blow, someone would have a penny or a dime fall into the lighter and it would blow the fuse

if its going off when the car is on- then its a ground issue
