Question Fit Options..

Hello group for my first post! :-)

I live in Wisconsin, and I travel around the Midwest somehow in my 93 4dr Civic while going through snow storms, and other awful weather Wisconsin is known for having.. I like the Fit Sport with the exception of the lower body pannels, because those loser the ground clearance, and I need as much ground clearance because of our snow storms.. (It's funny how often I drive right past SUV drivers who found themselves driving their 4x4s into a road ditch that they can't get out of!) ;-)

I'd take a base line model however, the base model doesn't offer Cruise Control, which I depend on for my line of work!

In addition: How difficult would it be to remove the rear seats..? I could use all the space I can squeeze out of this little bug of a car..

Thanks!

JP

Hey JPFit, welcome to FitFreak.
Many Fit owner's live in snow state's with Sports and get around great. But if you really wanted to, it is possible to remove the front lip, and side skirts. Im not going to say it will look good though, it will leave holes.
As far as removing the rear seats. I dont think its necessary. Go to a dealer and check out they "Magic Seats" functionality. You will be blown away. Between all the Magic seats diffrent modes you will be able to Fit a great variety of large item in the back of the Fit.

The seats can be removed by just a few bolts, but you're gaining almost nothing by doing so seeing that they already fold into the floor pan level with the rear cargo floor anyway. You'd gain maybe a couple of inches of extra depth in the passenger footwells, but that's all, and the cargo floor wouldn't be flat anymore. Also, the ground clearence w/ the Sport is actually pretty much the same as the Base, and it's even been mentioned on here to be a bit more due to the bigger rims/tires.

i live in IL and work in kenosha, so i am fully aware of those fantastic snow storms

this is the 2nd winter with my sport fit and i have had NO problems with ground clearance, even while driving on completely unplowed side roads.

and as tool said, the magic seats are phenomenal. until you see it in person, you don't realize just how much space is actually back there. i've hauled so much stuff in mine with plenty of room to spare.

Welcome Like other's said the Magic Seat's are very helpful(I used them last night matter of fact)and you won't need to remove the seat's when you get your Fit.BUT if you decided to,they are very easy,5/6 bolt's(30 minute's).The only thing to know about removing the bolt's are,"You Must Replace The Gold Bolt's When The Seat's Are Out."(Not yelling,, just highlighting). When I removed my seat's and didn't replace the gold bolt's,I started to smell gas and thought my car was going to explode! The bolt's cover the fuel tank(which is in the center of the car)and when I reinstalled the bolt's,I was able to leave the seat's out with no gas fume's coming out.Good Luck.

Thanks everyone who replied!

Now I have a lot more confidence in driving a Sport model, plus I guess I'll have to see just how much of my equipment I can store in the back of that car.. I was thinking of removing the seat, having the windows tinted some more, even having the passenger seat down too for the longer things..

I'll just have to take one home with me from the dealer..

BTW, what sort of gas mileage are you guys getting (who haven't souped up your cars)..?

Just have a axle-back.32/34MPG.Mixed driving. It is kind of fun to see the milage I can get(MAN,I'm getting old). It's also nice when I pull up to put gas in,and only pay $25.00 for a full tank(My CLK cost's around $60).
