turning your engine off
there are plenty of folks that, at the end of the day, are so tired from work that they literally have zero situational awareness. i watch people's eyes and i notice the drivers that literally have the thousand yard stare and wake up when they park in their driveway. i stay well away from them. those people are far more common and much more dangerous than the hypermiler that is driving deliberately.

I have noticed in forums that alot of misunderstanding and assumptions seem to oddly prevail over closely reading. Maybe this is due to ones possible yet odd desire just to argue for arguments sake. Or perhaps not reading thoroughly enough to begin with. I am pretty good about not insulting people often, yet I am rather quick to point out flawed reasoning as I believe it should be reviewed.
Oh and thanks AppleMac*Fit but it seems as if it was taken in ways it was not intended by some others.
Due to my desire for clarity, I will attempt a post in which little is vague/ambiguous.
So on that note, let me clear up some things in this next post...

Response in blue below VVV
If you are still wondering for some inexplicable reason about my previous and continued education (lifes a journey ya know) then I ask you how on earth could/should/would it matter? (BTW answering that would not paint you in a particularly good light)
I am scared when improper rational/reasoning gets out of hand. In case anyone was wondering why I had such vigor in my response to this.
Phew! That was exhaustive...but fun actually
oh before I forget since you would like to avoid false statements then here is a tip to remember-
Shutting off the car to save gas is a technique in hypermiling, however hypermiling does not mean shutting off the car.
and now back to the previously scheduled program...
be sure to inclued something relevant to the thread tile...
(its hard not to sound antagoinistic when rebuking, but I tried. My humor kept getting in the way though.
heehee)
lol. When is the last time you received higher education man?
That was far more insulting than anything I said, and was intended as such. I would consider that rather tacktless and rude. But I am only assuming (uh oh) it was directed at me, since you did not use a quote. The ability to use ones brain is probably more useful than when one last entered/exited their last scholastic endavour.(make sure you read that previous sentance again as its a clarification not an attack) BTW the "lol" doesn't make it funny or ok. Instead it makes it look like you take my statements as jokes. (warning condescension comming)>>> that means you are being "rude"
Your argument is completely fallacious and it doesn't even require me to retort in proper form,
This is a common form of reply ^^^ I see on this site when someone recieves a directed reasonable response that is not in agreement.
BTW which argument is completely false? I discussed some things I thought you were possibly off on. So were my attemps "fallacious" as well? I would think not, as few if any were direct negations on what you said, so that would mean some of what you said would inherently be "fallacious" as well. Would you like to actually be specific on what was "completely fallacious"? (as this is not a trait that I am known for, so I would like to be enlightened on what you observed) though I do feel insulted.
So I will.
sorry to hear that my view and thoughts did that to you. I must addmit though your post about "hating to argue" seems to be an odd fit. Just embrace it and life would be much easier.
(besides what types of fallacies did I present?)
?????????
????????? Misconceptions and assumptions seemed to be the order of the day not "fallacies". That is only something you seem to jump to conclude.
I have hypermiled before and received decent results, not any better than subtle acceleration and a top speed of 63mph has given.
Is that how you found out that for you it was unsafe? Thats too bad as even psuedo hypermiling has gained me a rather magnificent/impressive increase in mileage, when compared to not observing some mpg techniques.
your assumption that I drive fast is pretty rude,
You clearly missread as it had little to nothing to do with how you drive(who knows how you drive...which was my point), my point had to do with explanations of viable and quantifiable practices. The term "moderately" is rather vague, and I was just overindulging in a bit of exaggerated humor to point it out. (nothing like an entertaining type to get the creative juices flowing) as was AppleMac's that people that don't hypermile eat food, watch dvds while driving, and talk on the phone, theres no actual evidence to back this reasoning.
You seem to have missread again unfortunately...(sorry but it has to be pointed out). Unless for some reason you know this and you are just trying to argue irrationally just for fun. If that is the case I would like to inform you that some don't appreciate it. Your ad hominem's are as well poor claiming that "we" all know it wouldnt be safe for me to hypermile.
My "false logic" btw or as you put it "ad hominem" is no where near as flawed or more apparent in my sentance than it is in this recent one of yours. If you still think so then let me propose this- Is it possible for you to be safe hypermiling? You seem to imply in your posts that it is unsafe (to put it lightly to say the least). So if you believe it to be unsafe...then how pray tell are YOU safe in doing it. Are you somehow the gifted superhuman one? And that my friend is called a TOUCHE! Though I sport as Soshinoya badge,
I am anything but an unsafe lead footed driver,
Good for you! It must look cool. I am glad to hear you are an not an unsafe driver. I didn't think that had anything to do with a yellow and green badge though. I just thought it meant you have not been driving long and dont have much experience. But then again its all fashion anyways. I wouldnt infer such a thing about you out of respect, which you dont seem to present for me.
I never presented any such a thing about you. NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!
I am adding your comment about how long ago was my last jaunt with education and your lead footed comment and assume (uh oh and possibly incorrectly)that you think I was refering to you when I said I would rather have teens hypermiling than doing whatever it is they do.
I dont know or care how old you are. But from your comments I would say that you took to heart too many improper locutions from your general philosophy of logic class.
+2 for lamyun's post btw
good to know thanks for sharing.
I could go on about how you misdirected this topic off into other fields of safe driving
I was rather on point, as I was trying desperately to corrcect your general improper assumptions on hypermiling. So others would not go and get "misdirected" from your posts.
but its not worth the time,
Thats odd, I would think it would have more to do with you contradicting yourself than it "not worth your time". Or was it just that much more convenient to say that?
rather heres Edmunds stance on hypermiling.
"But how do hypermilers do it? Below are some hypermiling tactics that practitioners say increase pocket cash while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Still, not all hypermiling techniques are safe or the best idea for your car's mechanical longevity. Many of them are extremely dangerous and, some would say, profoundly irresponsible. While we endorse the pursuit of energy independence, in no way do we support or encourage all of these activities. This article serves only to illustrate the lengths to which people will go, not to offer them as fuel-saving tips to our readers.
You point out one negation in it, just one! And I will award you with two whole poorly deduced findings of your own. (mostly cuz I am a nice guy

purely antagonistic. I LOVE ITI see your posts all over fitfreak just in blue text with a cynical demeanor(non admitted but excused for personal enjoyment)
your cynicism truly has no end, I DO LOVE IT(emphasis). n__n
throwing things back, all the "good for you's",and underlined, bold text. all classic examples of a protagonist with a good chip on the shoulder.
My only realll rebuttal in this post is that the topic is "turning off your engine".
not pseudo-hypermiling and other mpg+ saving techniques.
my weak assumption was that turning off an engine was hypermiling, and so forth..unsafe. im sure any mvd/dot will agree, but to each their own. honestly.
I do feel comfortable with what I've posted and will now be excommunicating this thread for the duration of my life. (please add a good for you it would help my thesis :33)
ps. ad hominem = attack lacking relevance that is directed towards the intended author. not rly important but still

how about a response in dark green below VVV

Purely? oh well cant say I didnt try to be helpful. glad you love it though, as I would have hated it to be a total loss.

Glad you notice.
Cynical seems a bit strong and a bit inapropos of a term given my intentions in general.
I am a bit of a pessimist though. And I often and freely admit I enjoy this site and even (god forbid) some of my posts.

Nor apparently does your sarcasm...yes no? I dont mind being a protagonist(with bouts of what is called sarcasm). Chips come and go as do the ones on your shoulders it seems. It certainly could be worse. btw the bold is for clarity (its easier to read at a distance, unless you meant the more isolated ones where again its so it isnt missed), and the underlined is for emphasis. Sometimes important words get missed. (sorry if that sounds condescending it was not meant to be)

That was not your only major (not weak) assumption. But this was far more reasonable a response this time none the less.

You really dont seem to understand where I am coming from at all. I find it unfortunate and I am sorry to hear that. And by the way it looks to me that you are just assuming things and not really forming a thesis.

BTW "false logic" is a decent summation (one of the few times I didnt feel wordy, heehee), especially considering that I was on point. I find it odd you would choose that to end your post though. And indeed we agree its not really important! How funny is that?
Fighting through the Salty Kelp Forest that I made and dove in to
, I had an odd thought- (hmm...go figure...)-
As unreliable as the power steering seems to be when turning off the car but keeping the key in the second position rolling or stoped(got this from another thread) Am I to assume that the brake booster would also be as inconsistent/unreliable? As when I initially shut off the car the brakes feel fine for the initial hit/depress. Less so for the next and even less so for the subsequent hit where it is like trying to push a fridge!
