Unhooking the battery is one way to reset the ECU.

Try driving for 10 minutes to warm up the car and remove the ECU fuse. After 10 minutes put it back in, turn on the car and let it idle for about 10 minutes and then turn it off. Wait two minutes and then turn the car back on again. This process should save the new ECU settings.

Are you able to rev past 4000 rpms?

Right now yes i am able to rev past 4k. I will try to do your sequence. Why do you ask about the revving?

Wanted to see if your ECU was in safemode.

Ive seen a few coil on plug cars do this...turned out to be the wires going from the ecu to the coil pack were going bad...when the engine is running the vibrations cause an open circut randomly....vibration is also what caused the wires internally to break down....the two cars i fixed the wires broke internally where they are crimped into the pin in the plug that goes into the coil...nice to know the fit has the same problem...the two cars i fixed were toyota's

Yes, I'm betting on coil-packs (or their wiring) too. It sounds exactly like cracked plug wires, and since there are no traditional plug wires on these cars, it stands to reason that the part that took the place of the plug wires would be the culprit.

My girlfriend has a Tacoma pickup which had this problem awhile back, and it was a coil-pack issue. Easy fix (even for me).

I'm almost positive it's a bad coil pack... and I'm assuming you have a CEL?

Get a OBD2 scanner and check which cylinder the misfire's in, clear the code, and then swap your coil pack from that cylinder with a coil pack from a cylinder that's not misfiring and tighten everything back up. Start the car and let it idle for a few minutes until it starts to misfire again and you get the new CEL. After that, take the OBD2 scanner to check in which cylinder the misfire is occurring and if the misfire is now in the new cylinder, then your coil pack is bad. Easy fix but they are a bit pricey, cheapest I've seen them go for online was about $45 each.

Good luck. Feel free to PM me if you need more help.

Ours ended being the coil packs. Honda ensured us it was the heads and valves being out of adjustment. After paying to have that done it still did it. True to Honda's word they stood by thier guarantee and changed all the coil packs just to see if it was them. Sure enough it was and hasnt missed since (80000+) miles. Yes we have a ton of miles on our car, 200k+ now. The local dealership was stumped and engineers in Japan told them to change the packs.

Is your engine light on? Even if it's not could be coil pack malfunction but you will have to determine which cylinder is acting up to figure which coil pack is needed

Ours CEL never came on, ever. Couldnt you buy one coil, and swap each existing coil with the new one until the missing stopped? If there is only one coil bad.

Trick to do is like what previous post suggests..get obd scanner and find out what cylinder is miss firing then swap coil pack to correct problem. Hope you kept other old coil packs as they probably were all good. It's highly unlikely all four were gone at once as this surely would have caused engine light to come on and have multiple miss fire codes.

Hopefully the scanner will comminicate unlike ours. Good luck to all, thank god ours is fixed and its in the past. It was beyond frustrating, not knowing when it was safe to take a drink of your coffee or when it was going to die at a light.

I dunno if anyone can figure this out but here it goes .... I've had misfires for two months now. Took it to a few mechanics including Honda. I've had new spark plugs installed, new coil packs, valve adjustment done, fuel induction done, they did an engine compression test (was fine), fuel sample (nothing wrong), so then they wanted to do the fuel injectors. It was expensive so I decided to tackle that. Got OE beck arnley reman injectors and installed them. Was running fine for about 30 min than I decided to fill up and added an injector cleaner. Well then the misfires started again. Maybe I missed a step..? I dunno.. Spent lots of time on everything than money on the same stuff I've done and now I'm tapping out. Help please. Thanks! Ps. 2007 honda fit sport MT with 166k miles. This is the guide I found http://www.hondafitjazz.com/manual/A...801KBAT00.HTML

Hello, it seems like this may be the thread to jump into. I have 167,000 miles and serious misfires. Honda and 3 other mechanics couldn't figure it out. Had OE coil packs done, OE plugs (plugs and coils done twice; once by me once by honda), valve adjustment (honda did on cold engine), and Beck arnley reman injectors (i did this one). Had compression test done (was fine), fuel sample (was fine).... PS 2007 Honda Fit Sport MT
fuel pump?? maybe?? dunno..

define misfires: is it just throwing codes or do you notice something in the way of power loss/uneven idle?

Both. Misfire: a huge hiccup/hesitation. Also, I have an actron plus obd2 reader. Tells you the code with written description. Says it's a misfire in cilinder 1 and 2 and a random. These are not consistent with moving the plugs or coils.
