2009 Fit at NY Auto Show

Somebody f'd up the info. The big news is tomorrow. Everybody's invitations said tomorrow, but only the two people who NEEDED to know about it didn't know about it. wtf. Grrr. they got fired. retribution
So if you guys are around, come by the Honda booth tomorrow, Thursday, at around 4pm.
Or make sure to keep your eyes on the blogs. They're gonna light up like a Christmas tree left up til 4th of July. haha

but you see thats the problem, honda doesn't have real 'options' just trim levels. sure you can get some mats or a leather wheel, but those are all extras and usually not already equipped on the car.
and if honda has more than 2 trim levels, you can bet your life that the first sports heading to the dealers would have had the panoramic roof, and the high msrp (for what it is) to match. I'm sure the new fit will be more expensive, but honda has to cater to the market and what people are willing to pay...and seeing as how a brand new 09 fit on the lot with an msrp of 18-19k isn't going to strike anyone as a good deal, honda was right to do without it.
plus, not many other cars in the segment offer one, so its still competative.
your current fit didn't have any of those things...but you still bought it and thought it a competent vehicle, no?

Plus, my arm rest is removable so I can fit something long between the two front seats. Can't top that!
greekdaddy000 & kuba,
what was your impression of the elongated front end? Is it as obvious and ugly as on that single extreme profile picture we all detest?
I found this video on Nihoncar:
Honda Fit 2009... Also for the US : Nihon Car .com
While camera spins around the car and reaches perfect profile position, front end does not look nearly as bad as it does in extreme profile picture.
It must be the "road level" camera angle of the picture vs. standard human height with a camera on the shoulder or at chest level. If that is the case it might not be as bad as we think. Don't get me wrong, I still hate elongated look vs. JDM/euro spec by a large margin! This might create record number of front end conversions known to man!
I still hate the fact that it does not have rear disc, too! It should be made available at least though the parts department!
Telescopic wheel, real dead pedal, more supportive seats, more compliant suspension and extended wheel base for greater comfort and handling, real paint job(!!!) might be just enough for many to get over the front end disaster and switch to a new 2nd gen.
I still need to see it for myself to judge it. As much as I hate to admit, I like many things about the car's interior.
BTW, it is obvious that Honda is reading what we have to say and cares about it! That is why they advertise so heavily here. Believe me they will flood us with 2nd gen pictures to make us switch, so SPEAK YOUR MIND!
I am going to start a post under "Tell Honda" as well, under "2009 Fit is lacking .....".

Perspective is everything
Camera angle and presepective are everything.
For instance, this picture taken from a very low angle makes this car look like it is a big wedge shape with a big rear end.

But when you look at this image, the elongated front end looks quite nice.

And another thing, the elongated front end will actually make the USDM 09' Fit more aerodynamic as opposed to the more blunt front end of the JDM 08' Fit, which will mean a lower drag coefficient, and improved mileage.
One last thing. As soon as the 09' Fit hits U.S. showrooms, the value of the 07'/08' will decrease greater than if the 09' was simply the new model of the same body style because people want the latest thing. The 09' Fit will look like a new car (if properly maintained) for at least four years, or when the next redesign of the Fit arrives.

Keep watching the blogs. Honda sent out the official press release just a few hours ago. They told me it should start popping up tonight.
My in person experience was A LOT better than I had anticapated!!!
The only exposure I had to the new FIT was the pics we all have of the JDM version, so I wasn't expecting much at the Show....but I must say that the USDM version caught my attention right away. The lines are subtle although much more obvious than the current gen FIT.
Honestly the USDM is not a bad looking car at all, I'd rock it.
That mugen civic was also freakishly nice for a 4 door.
