auto butler paint protectant

My new fit comes with auto butler paint protestant that the dealership puts on all cars. The dealership offers an extended warranty on it where for a price, they will re-apply the sealant every 6 months. I'm moving and won't be able to go to this dealership every 6 months, but is there something else like this on the market, or can I apply this sealant myself? Does anyone have experience with this sealant/protector and does it work well? The dealership told me they put it on cars to protect against tree sap and bird droppings and have used it for 25 years.

sealant is a sealant. try this easy on easy off. lasts one year, they say. just apply every spring and fall.
