the fit and car seats

Does anyone have any experience with how well the Fit works with car seats? I'm trying to decide between the Fit and the Matrix, and while I prefer the size of the Fit, I'd like a car that can fit two car seats, with a back seat roomy enough to remove the seats with ease.

I know the car is designed to hold two carseats. I'm just concerned with how successfully it does so, or if I would be better off with a bit larger car. any thoughts/advice would be great. TIA.

I've seen a Fit with two car seats, seemed fine to me.

When I have my daughters car seat in, there is plenty of room on the other seat for another, no problem.

thanks so much, everyone, for the replies.

Just out of curiousity, do you have trouble fitting all of the other paraphanelia--pack and plays, strollers, etc, in the trunk?

I can only speak for one seat so far, but the next one will be necessary in November!

We use my wife's car (Mazda5) for most trips that require more storage, but mostly because it is just simpler. I am sure we could get a stroller and pack and play in there with no problem.

If you want to see a seat in place in person, I may be able to meet you somewhere depending on where you are. I cover the entire Philly area for my business so I am pretty much all over the place. Just PM me if you want to check it out.

My wife is due in July.
We got a red stroller and a red car seat to match the Fit!

We are also going to be godparents to our friend's twins. I am going to try to install 3 seats on the back and put them in for a photo shoot by end of the year.
Problem might come up with seat's bases which are wider than a seat themselves.

If you are trying to fit "only" two, they fit in a Fit without any problems.
I am seeing another red Fit with two baby seats and a double stroller on a regular basis in the neighborhood.

I have a standard front facing 5point harness car seat AND a high back booster in with ease.

recaro sport in mine, no issues with fitment. also can fit a regular sized
cooler and stroller in the trunk with the rear seats upright.

you'll be amazed how much room the car has.

kenchan,
check with the store that you got the RECARO from. If do not know if you are aware. They had a recall for which they supply a free adapter to cure the problem!
I am looking forward getting a Recaro, but it will be a while. I am eyeballing European versions that have a metal bar to the floor that supports the in-car seat attachment for additional stability!
I might just go shopping next time I go home to Croatia.
