^the small window infront of the mirror looks the same to me. i think it will be about the same as the current fit, new fenders, bumper, hood... the headlights look like they 'might' be the the same. it's hard to tell.

Are you sure those to are the same car?
There are SO many details that are diffrent:
1. Offcourse longer nose means longer fender and hood.
2. The front light looks diffrent too.
3. Front grill and front end is diffrent. So probably the foglight is diffrent too.
4. No turnsignal in the side mirror.
5. Diffrent back lights...

But, then again, it could be those "minor design modification" that cars always get just before they are released into the marked.

Nothing new. The current Fit requires the same thing. I prsume for the rear all people will need is a rebar + bumper swap.

The old Fit needed the same things done to it, but I think the new one looks infinitely more awkward after the Americanizing treatment.

-The USDM Fit Sport gets the JDM RS model's tail lights and side skirts. The blue Fit is the base model, which is why it's sparse looking.

-The JDM models get gunmetal headlight housings. We get clear. Cost-cutting details on ours.

-The front grill and front end on the USDM Fit is supposed to look like the current USDM Fit so it's instantly recognizable, which is why ours looks different. The rear bumper of ours has a fake diffuser underneath.

The current USDM Fit doesn't get turnsignal mirrors either. Again, cost-cutting.

For anyone wondering about interior differences, USDM models get blue gauge lighting. Japan gets orange (same as the 1st gens). They also get auto/digital climate control and contrast stitching (blue on 1.3L models, orange on RS models). I'm also fairly positive Japan gets more aggressive side bolstering in the front seats and the swiveling passenger seat.

As a general rule, never rely on "The Truth" website for anything. They're a bunch of idiots in general with no particular automotive experience, just a controversial website so people think their opinion actually means something.
Agreed, I can't stand a lot of the writers on that website. Some try way too hard to be Jeremy Clarkson in reviews. I do like some of their editorials though.

if you look at this video (look at all of it) the front end only looks fugly at one specific angle... but very balanced at all other angles. the visual effect is kinda weird.

wat the hell are these guys thinking? man i got stoked seeing the jdm second gen fit, with the body kit option and the gauges and what not...but the usdm looks like a friggin ponitac vibe...or possibly the bastard child of nissan versa and chevy aveo! i was seriously considering trading my fit in for the second gen, but its a pass, i guess its the mazda 3speed in the future if i do get a new car

You can get a sunroof installed, it's pretty cheap too. The place I called quoted me at $600, planning on getting it done this summer.

the funny thing is, even if the usdm version wasn't as 'bad' looking, people would still be trying to do the conversion. because its JDM and its 'different'.

I personally don't mind the way it looks. yeah it has kind of a big overhang, but only in comparison to the JDM model, which you could also argue has a face that is a bit squished, with headlights that almost touch the front a pillars.

I think that its still much better looking than any of the other b class offerings we have here in the states, and it'll drive even better. and we get better, blue gauge lighting, unlike the crappy orange jdm lights.

I like it. and it'll serve its purpose and cut the competition down at their knees. (or c pillars. )

agreed. even our gen fits got a lot of grief when they first came out, but ofcourse, no one remembers that. and our cars look a helluva lot better in person as well.

I didn't like it initially, but like someone mentioned before, only at that one certain time it looks odd. You complain about the front, but what about the back end? It looks much better, as do the sides.

You guys are also forgetting the changes to the suspension and the rest of the interior. If it's a better ride and has more leg room (especially for the driver's side) perfect.

I just think a lot of it just just hate, because they came out with a 2nd gen so fast.

I know if i bought a car a year or two ago and then suddenly the company came out with a revamped version this soon, I wouldn't be overly happy and would hate too. lol

Actually I'm kind of glad they are coming out with a new one, I like my ride to stay unique It seems like most of the new features can be easily added ourselves to our first gens. I wonder if it has better front seats this time around...

Hey all. This is my first post here though I do tend to prowl TTAC quite a bit.

Personally, I want to thank those of you who take issue with the '09 Fit's front end. I'm hoping you can keep this issue at the forefront of everyone's mind so that when these things finally show up in the Fall I'll be able to get a good look at them and maybe even buy one without having to wait.

I have to be honest in saying that I didn't realize what the issue was regarding the nose of the '09 Fit until I saw the post on TTAC that showed teh JDM and USDM models together. It doesn't bother me in the least and I'm really looking forward to seeing these things in person.
