What's up withe the Fit "carpet"??

OK, so we got our fit and the wife says " honey, look at this wierd carpet..."
Well, it does not look or feel like any carpet I've ever seen. It looks liks some material the would maybe go under a carpet. It's just like this panel molded foam/rubbery stuff that you could hose off?? No actual carpet fibers at all?

Maybe I'm an idiot for not even noticing it but we test drove it only once at night.

So IS what I'm looking at honda's version of "carpet".

Thats the infamous Fit's cheap carpet. Other Hondas have higher quality carpets. I just use rubber mats to cover it up.

it does look cheap, but so far, mine's holding up better than average at 20k miles.

They had to cheap out in some places and the carpet is one of them for sure.

On the bright side, the Fit's carpet is really easy to vacuum out. Not much there to trap any debris.

Carpet???

I think from this point forward, said material should be referred to as "acoustic deadening mat".

It's not carpet and we should not honor it with such terminology

I like the carpet the way it is. It's much easier to clean than the real carpet. Hopefully it doesn't stain as easily.

i cant remember where, but i read the carpet is that way so it is easy to vaccuum and clean up animal hair for the people who bring their pets in the car. I have the rubber floor mats, so you cant really see it. If the carpet bothers you, just some some floor mats!!
