Manual Transmission Shifting
The 1 > 2 shift is usually more difficult than the others in almost any car.....
..... Some clutches actually gain holding power with RPM, which the manual Fits get plenty of in 1st gear. I chalked it up to gearing in my Fit. I expect it to get better over time, but not much.

I also still believe from my own tests that there is a huge sample variation on these MT Fits, which sounds mostly like a manufacturing tolerance issue.
As far as the clutches gaining pressure with RPM, I really get that as I have driven quite a few MT's and a couple of them had rather pronounced symptoms of that but it was consistent. Mine unfortunately is many times inconsistent....
*quickly runs to the dealer waving a white flag*
No problems here during normal driving. I've also found that pausing in neutral for a split second before going into 2nd, really helps to smooth things out. This is during my "standard" driving mode which is probably "boring" for most people, LOL
as you get use to the car you'll find that you can shift through the
gears without a pause in N. it's how you roll off your throttle that
determines how long you have to pause between the gates.
the flywheel spins down pretty quickly, gear ratio's are close, and
the syncro's are pretty rugged on this tranny. this is why you can
shift this car fast unlike some other cars from other brands.

Agree, except that the ratio from 1-2 is a lot wider than the other gears and really isn't very close. I always pause a bit between 1-2 to let the rpms drop a bit for that reason.
but the "jump" when you release the clutch in 2nd is the best part..
first gear + the rev hang of drive by wire during downshifts.. and not really caring how smoothly you shift (as long as no grinding or bogging).. kinda funny watching passengers rock back and forth in your peripheral vision.

When I bought my Fit Sport I noticed that sometimes shifting into First Gear was a bit Difficult, it didn't want to go into gear. At first I thought I was not pushing the clutch down all the way, so I made sure I was and still had trouble sometimes getting into first gear. When the Cars first oil change was due, I told the dealer about it and they adjusted something and I have had no problem since that. It goes into all gears smoothly now.
other cars, other brands, not other gears on the Fit.
ofcourse you have to pause longer than the other gears...
but you can lessen the pause if you roll off 1st more gently.
I just ordered my fit, but I've experienced similar situations on my Prelude SH. Try rev matching a little. Take the work off the clutch, and put it on the driver. If your rpm falls too much it will make engagement harder. This is especially true with a new driver that isn't fluid in their shifting. Shifting fast should not be a problem if rpm's are matched. Try a little pop of 200-300 rpm before you shift to have the tach needle line up on the rpm the gear will engage at. Say you have 3500 rpm in first, and you know second will engage at 2500rpm. When you press the clutch try to engage second as the engine approaches 2500 rpm. If you need/want more time too shift do the little throttle trick to line them up. It will sync perfect every time, and make the synchro gears last longer. This will come naturally after a little practice. Makes a super smooth shift too.
