Top Tier Gas

Top Tier Gasoline

I recently read an online article about the recent spike in gas prices, and all the dread about prices for gas continuing to rise.

Well the article mentioned that some gas providers are actually starting to reduce additives in an effort to compete, and offer lower prices to the customer (not much lower - just enough to tempt you to drive past the other guy)

Well, I was one of those "find the cheapest regular gas" folks. My local Walmart offers it for the lowest price, and then another 3 cents off per gallon if you use a Walmart gift card.

After a bit of web surfing, I've convinced myself to switch over to a top tier gas provider. For me, it's Chevron. (Chevron is the closest).

After about three tanks of the stuff - I definately notice a difference. The car seems to run a bit better overall, and I've noticed a slight increase in fuel economy.

Just wondering if anyone else is already following this - or if anyone has some firm information that "all gas is the same". I used to exclusively run Chevron Premium in my Civic Si - and now I'm back to Chevron, just using their Regular.

By the way - the Chevron pumps only have Mid-grade and Premium-grade fuels marked with Techroline, but through all the reading I've done - their regular fuel has it as well.

i use the major brand gas as much as possible.

but dont be fooled just by the brand name...there are major brand
gas stations with old tanks that seeps water and other contaminants.
ive had bad gas from shell... car started knocking. i think many
people complained and they were forced to redo the tanks.

ever since they got new tanks no more issues.

Nice find. Now I need to find out if BP/Amoco gas is a Top Tier gasoline. I have been using their gas in all my cars that I own and so does everyone in my family, but I finally filled up my car for the first time since I bought it on April 1st. So if BP/Amoco isnt a Top Tier, I guess I will be doing the switch at my next fill up
