I too have the cold weather dash rattle. But what annoys me the most is the seatbelt hangar rattle. My driver's side window also rattles when it's slightly open.

my 08 has 2,300 miles and my dash sounds likes its falling apart i know its a $17 k car but come on honda for years all ive heard is can't beat that honda quality. the bad thing is my wife has a 1998 ford escort wagon with 55k miles and guess what it doesn't rattle my 02 civic si didn,t have rattles. so is honda becoming the new GM sorry for the rant lol ive just had a few older honda's with no problems and my dash rattles are so bad i woud need a 1,200 watt system to drown them.oh to add i had the seat belt and door window rattles to and the peice on the rear hatch is rattling too come on honda step up and fix this.

Mine has a mild rattle that really comes to life in cold weather. I've had it in twice to fix it, and they made it quieter the second time, but now I've got the steering column rattle...

*sigh* Class action, anyone?

OMG...I thought I was the only one that has this rattle problem on the dash! It too rattles from the cold weather. I have yet to bring it back to the dealership for service on the rattle. For a car that was built in Japan, this is a real disappointment in fit & finish quality. Last time I ever heard a similar rattle was from a GM product.

Wow I think some of you guys are over reacting by comparing Honda to GM because of a simple rattle. Try driving an S2000 as a daily driver to know what a rattle really is. A simple rattle is enough to make some of you guys want to trade your car in? A rattle cancels out the fact that this car is affordable, fun to drive, 30+mpg, and has honda's amazing reliability? If you guys want a GM youll be visiting the dealership for engine repairs more times than youll be at honda trying to get a rattle fixed.

I have the cold weather dash rattle too! But I just live with it. I don't want anyone taking my dash out of my car just for the simple fact that it would never be the same again. If someone is going to take the dash out it will be me. I don't really trust other people but my self working on my car. Even if it is a so call certified honda tech. I used to be one and trust me some of those so called techs are not even certified to wipe their own asses!!!

Hello everyone,

I just joined this formum after doing a web search to see if any other Fit owners have a dash rattle. I just bought my car on Saturday and just noticed today that my dash rattles! I only have 100 miles on the car and I'm very annoyed by the dash rattle. I'll call the dealer and bring it in with a print out of this thread to see if they can do something about it. I have never owned any car that had a dash rattle like this, so I hope it can be fixed. If any of you who have posted here have found a way to stop the dash rattle please let me know.

Thanks

My lower glovebox (or the dash around it) rattles in the cold. But if I open the glovebox, the rattle goes away completely. So I think there's just too much weight hanging on something when the glovebox is closed. I just need to reinforce that somehow...

Fit Rattle

Boy, does my heart go out to FitDNA. I've taken my 2008 Fit back to Honda a dozen times at least. There are rattles and then there are rattles. I have had major dash rattles. Honda has done more foam wrapping around some of the wiring harnesses that hit the plastic when going over a bump. They've eliminated 50% of the rattles doing this, but was told by the Honda service department that such is the nature of the flimsy plastic beast of the Fit dash. There is simply not enough cushioning under that plastic to endure the bumps and so that's why you get the buzzes and rattles. My only suggestion is don't take no for an answer. Your car is under warranty. Take the car back. The good news is that in warmer weather, the rattles subside somewhat.

Good luck. Stay on 'em.

If anyone finds a dealer that actually solves the problem please keep us updated as to what the fix is.
Thanks

I'm sorry, but are all of you serious? You bought a 15,000$ car. I'm sure all of you are aware that a dashboard is made of plastic, which expands and contracts like many other materials. I get this rattle, crank my heat up on high for about 5 minutes on the defroster and it's gone.
What do you expect when you buy at 15,000$ car, the cheapest economy car? You didn't buy a 40,000$ lexus that advertises quiet interior.

I bet half of you complaining all have a stiffer suspension in your car than stock, which makes the rattling even worse. If I worked at a dealership and someone brought in a fit with a rattling dashboard I would have a problem not laughing in your face. If there is some other issue, something not attached or held down properly, fine. But just a rattle in your dashboard?
We have to remember, you are driving a moving vehicle...I'm sure if you sat in your fit in a parking lot for an hour you wouldn't get any rattling...a road has bumps, can be uneven, ect. All the parts of your car may move during your driving or make noise, engine, tires, brakes, and in our case, dashboard...it doesn't mean they're broken, it just means they are making a noise.

I drove an Audi A6 for 4 years and I had more rattling in my dashboard and all over my car than I ever have in the fit. I simply cannot see complaining about something like this when I paid 17,000$ for a sport.

Thanks, SHG_Chiquita, for a dose of reality. Rattles are so idiosyncratic that I've always felt it's an owner responsibility to track them down. It's not that hard, and, unless you place zero value on your time, much cheaper than driving to a dealer and spending hours in the waiting room, even if the car is still covered by warranty. My 2009 Fit sport rattles neither more nor less than anything else I have owned since 1962.

Rattles have nothing to do with safety, and in no way justify a recall. Keep in mind that, ultimately, somebody has to pay for warranty work, which is factored into the cost of the vehicle. Raising the manufacturer's costs through frivolous warranty claims is in nobody's interest.

That's my own solution!! Only problem, i didn't adress the windshield ducts because i didn't want to teardown my car in my driveway... but that day may come soon!!

Those A\C wires were knocking somewhere! Not so much now!!!

Zip-Tied the HVAC ducts together! One seems to be isolated with foam while the other muss that insulation causing it to be noisy!! Not anymore!!

I also had a noise comming from under the dash... it was the fusebox that was broken (???!?!?!?!?)!!!

Marko!!

i hate my glovebox rattle so much. the rattling in the glovebox is due to the latch not pressing the glovebox firmly to the dash rubber grommet. im thinking double sided tape and foam blocks.

It could be the shit you have in the box too. I keep the holder for my NAVI in there when not in use. It rattles around as well as the frozen stiff cord for it.

What is this seatbelt rattle? Which one? I have heard the odd weird noise in the back and was not sure what it was. It is very rare.

I guess we got lucky. We only had one rattle in our 09 and that was in the gloved box. Dealer found one loose screw and that took care of it.

i had it, focused on the lower dash, I tried cushioning but nothing....drove me crazy. Eventually I got rid of it although the rear seatbelt has come into its own now!

I fixed it by accident: I was too lazy to unplug my garmin when I put it in the lower glove compartment. The cord eventually moved the dash alignment just enough to stop the rattle, though it is no longer 100% flush.
