After a 3 month wait the Fit is here
I have been reading the posts on this forum for the last 6 months and 3 months ago decided to get a MR Fit. Because I live in snow country, I wanted a base Fit manual. The base because our snow and roads like to eat front air dams and scrap side skirts. I also wanted a manual for the different gearing in the mountains. Nothing available within 300 miles so ordered one Feb 6. Arrived yesterday - finally.
I want to thank all on this forum for the advise (sound deadening, breaking in techniques, adding remotes, disconnecting the AC on defrost, floor mats, etc.) all will be very helpful.
While I have only 80 miles on the car this morning, I am trying the speed breakin - go fast without lugging to get the cylinder pressure up to seal the rings. So far have been pleased with the acceleration and handling and everthing else about the car.
I have other rockets (a Monster Miata - V8 with supercharger, a 1966 427 HP corvette, a Morgan +4) but the fun in driving is through the feel of a car and the Fit is meeting my expectations. As Sterling Moss once said after driving a Morgan - "it is the sensation of speed and solid handling, not actual speed, that brings the pleasure".
And I purchased the Fit for $100 off MSRP, and shipping (Total - $14,485) and no dealer fees or add ons from Planet Honda in Golden (Mary Sagona). Took delivery and there was no added fee surprises. While the wait was long (I read this was due to the high demand now), Mary treated me well.
So thanks for everyone conveying your experience and what you have found out, now and in the future. I will let you know how my experience is as time goes by.
(Fun picture to follow - if I can figure out how to include - any advice?)

There were no manual base Fits around here. I would have had to go to Texas or Nebraska for one and when you added in the plane ticket, I felt I could wait.
The new Fits in Colorado are going fast and dealers have to special order most of them. When I ordered mine, I chose the color (Red). Others order theirs (from the same dealer) within a week of my order but in a different color. They received theirs a couple of weeks before mine so the delay may also have something to do when the factory is set to paint certain colors - just guessing.
The used Fits (of which there are few), normally are the same price or higher than the new ones and have high mileage - don't know why the dealers are doing this.
One dealer had a 2007 Fit Sport manual in red (the color I wanted) with 15,544 miles and was asking $16,900. There were no extras on it, no new tires, or anything. I could not seeing paying the same or more for a used Fit then a new one. I offered what I was willing to pay ($15,400) in February and the dealer would not accept. Too bad - he still has it on his lot.

Congrads on your new Fit - it is funny how some people had to wait months to get their cars and other states you just walk on the lot and
pick it out. I waited two months and then the VBP never showed up unitl July - went with the MR and happy that it did!
