Use a laundromat.

well, when i got the cover, it came with a tag that only said "do not machine wash".no directions on how to wash, just not to machine wash. its a special kind of fabric that is supposed to repel moisture.

I would spray the sucker off with a hose and add a bit of gentle dishsoap. spray it off and call it a day. the only real residue you could get on it would be dirt, sap, dust, sand, etc. All of that with the exception of sap should come off without a problem, and if it is sap then you would not be getting the residue on your car. It would eventually dry and scratch the sh!t out of it.

Just be careful wherever you do it to keep rocks and dirt out of the cover. Don't want un-necessary scratches.

^^
yeah that would definitely suck.
put a cover on your car to protect it, and all it does is scratch it.
