Cruise control question

Just wondering if this sounds normal. It doesnt happen very often...maybe about 3 times since ive bought it in Feb. Anyways, im driving along with cruise control going anywhere from 40-50MPH and all of a sudden my cruise control goes off...I have to press set to turn it on again. I use cruise control often since I hear it can increase your MPG.

It might be a safety thing programmed into the computer. Cruise control is meant to be used on freeways, and you described using it for slow, street speeds. Maybe it shuts off automatically at low speeds. Anyway, using it on the street is dangerous, and it won't increase your fuel economy at street speeds.

If you did accidentally hit the brake, that shut the cruise off.

That was my first thought. Could you have possibly hit the clutch or brake?

Also, I think CC works above 35mph. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the limit.

Pretty sure i didnt touch the clutch or brake...but that couldve been it. Around here, most of our highways are just smaller ones with speed limits of 40-50MPH.

impeccable

My cruise control has been impeccable. It's one of the major reasons I HAD to have the sport version. As far as MPG and ticket avoidance it's priceless.

I've only had it go off on me one time, also watch the shifter you might've moved it a little bit and just enough for it to register and shut the cruise off.

I have had my cruise control turn off on my at various speeds, not just low speeds. I have used it enough to know that I do not touch any of the pedals or the shifter (as I have a standard). The only way to resume the speed you had it set to is to press "set" again (once you resume the speed yourself). Where as if I just hit a pedal you could hit resume and it would increase its speed back to the preset speed.

Anyone have any clues to what could cause this?

Have you monkeyed with the horn? While I was installing a Nautilus Compact I discovered that the "set" function of the cruise is on the same circuit as the horn - or at least hooked into it some how.

Something is killing part of the cruise and I'll wager the security horn and brake lights as well.
