I think $5 gas will be a reality next summer or the summer after. Oil, government, and car company's are getting a lot of heat as it is. Along with the economy. $5 gas would cause people to hunt down oil executives and government officials who support the obscene profits these folks are making at the expense of Joe consumer. All it takes is one crazy guy...
But again I don't have a crystal ball so for all I know its going to be down to 2 bucks next year.

We are getting close to the $4.00 mark - I still love going in and pre-paying $25.00 and going back for my change. I normally fill up at the half point and then the next tank I drive to almost empty.

i went to work this morning around 6:00AM and passed a Mobile that had 87-octane for $4.09/gal. on my way home, i passed by the same gas station and the same 87-octane cost $4.21/gal. $0.12 increase in 9 hours!
i don't really mind the price of gas. it's kind of funny each time it increases because i can hear every Hummer, Escalade, Navigator, etc. owner die a little bit inside.
my old co-worker bought an Escalade around the same time i got my Fit, June, 2007 -- when gas was $2.80+/gal. she made fun of my car everyday, threatening to park on top of it, hide the wind-up key, etc.; i hated that b*tch. she doesn't drive it anymore because she could barely afford the monthly payment. last i heard it sits in her apartment parking garage, she takes the bus to work, makes the monthly payment (IIRC, she financed it at 12%), and she's pregnant again -- for the 2nd time...
PWN3D (financial hardship is not a laughing matter, unless you really hate the b*tch)
