Thoughts on base vs sport?
I'd choose the sport...
Without the lip kit, spoiler and fog lights, I'd feel like I was rolling around in an Aveo.
The 15" alloys I guess could be sort of a plus... Having the keyless entry, MP3/WMA capable headunit and aux jack is definitely convenient although the radio recpection leaves a little to be desired.

I prefer the sport because It's got keyless built into key (simple), leather highline feeling steering wheel, fogs, and stereo upgrade. I don't have time to mod my car and wanted an out of the box just add water Ramen noodle kind of car. I love it!
I opted for the sport because I knew I didn't want to add on all the extras later, it was already on there ready to go. I mean, I did some mods, but either way, most of it was already done and ready to go.
the main reason why i got the sport over the base is because i like the
sport's body kit and didn't feel like buying everything separately. the only
sport features i use are the body kit, security sytem...that's about it.
i rarely use cruise, ive not used the MP3 aux-in, rarely use the fog lamps,
even sold the factory 15" alloys.

Sport wheels/tires
Sport wheels/tires offer better handling, more responsive, sportier ride than the small base wheels/tire combo. You will notice a difference when comparing the ride/handling between the two as a result of the wheel/tire combo.
the sport is worth the difference, the steering wheel and shift knob are different, if you upgrade the stereo you would still be better off with the sport because the door panel tweeters are there already. i have the jdm armrest and it does not come with the aux jack, you have to transfer all your parts over. dont forget you also get nicer interior fabric which matches the jdm armrest it does not match in the base model.
I choose the Fit AT Base because:
1. I didn't like the spoiler, just don't like spoilers in general on most cars.
2. The body kit looks cool but would scrape on the driveways in my area.
3. Paddle shifters just don't make sense, if I wanted to shift I'd get an MT.
4. I added the key-less entry for $95.00 and didn't want the remote and key in one. The remote dies then your stuck with buying the whole key.
The Rims and aux for iPod would have been nice but rims are not a essential thing to make it roll and I can add the aux in easy. Paying that much more for those two items just didn't make sense. I really got the Fit because it 'Fits', great mileage (36 average so far with 4 fill ups.), descent amount of room for my big frame, good safety ratings and lots of room to haul stuff around if need be. The extra money I saved will be gas for the next 10 months!

raised, on BIG tires!
haha jk
Which got me thinking this morning, why would I really want the sport over the base? I went through the list of upgrades and my thoughts on each one.
Fog Lights - I like the fogs, though they're not critical. Could buy them myself for $243.60
Security System with Remote Entry - Don't really care about the security system but the keyless entry would be nice. Could buy the keyless only for $100.40
Cruise Control - A nice to have but not needed feature. I have it on my mazda but have only used it a couple times on long highway trips
Underbody Kit and spoiler - I like the looks of the underbody kit but that is something I can do myself later. The spoiler really makes the back end look better, could pick one up at some point.
200 Watt AM/FM/CD 6-speaker - Really doesn't matter to me as I was planning on upgrading anyways. Was also planning to get the JDM center console which has the missing MP3/aux port on it too.
15" Alloy Wheels - Going to upgrade wheels either way.
Steering Wheel mounted paddle shifters - doesn't matter to me since I'd be getting a 5MT.
So, in the end I could be happy with the $100 on keyless entry to start with. I did the math and my payment difference would be about $30 a month, or in the long term, $1,750 over the life of the loan.
The only thing I really couldn't have off the list would be the cruise control, but I also don't think that alone is worth $1,750. Anyone else make the same choice of Base over Sport, and how do you feel about the decision now vs. when you purchased?

Don't waste your money.
Now from my stand point, it's a smoke deal.
BTW You left out a few items of value.
- Better tires H rated
- rear window spoiler
- Leather steering Wheel
Opps, forgot about my slight lift and increase in tire size (I'll be adding the snow plow package soon. Lots of snow here in So Cal!).. LOL Bottom line is the fit is a good choice either package. Too bad the dealers know it and try to force every add on option known to man. LOL
