I had the same question: Base or Sport. My friend said get the sport or you will kick yourself. I thought that I dont need this or I dont need that. I ended up with the sport because it was getting hard to find a fit and I told the dealer I take which ever comes in first. I am so glad I got the Sport. The base model just looks so economy (when you really compare them side by side). You will use the cruise more than you would expect (the gas pedal is a little uncomfortable after awhile and its nice to rest your leg. I thought I'd upgrade rims too, but now that I have them. . .I love them, no need to upgrade. Also, dont forget you can SELL the stock Sport rims. The remote entry is great. If you want to save some money try shopping around or negotiate the price more. If you dont want the body work, you can sell that also . . .you should do ok selling the parts to recoop the money, and you will still have a titled SPORT (better trade-in). I'd say only get the base if you cant afford the sport or if you really dont give a rat's hair $#%#$ about cars.

i'm happy with the base model. i don't like the fog lights on the sport. and i also like the wingless look. and if i ever decide to go with a wing, i will only have holes for the aftermarket wing, and not have to worry about plugging the oem holes.
i have sport side skirts on right now.

plus it seems like everyone has a sport model. they all start to look the same unless they get an after market lip kit.

I used to kick myself that I got the Base, but in the end, I'm glad I did, because I really want to get a different body kit and new rims would save me a load of trouble.

Only negatives I have to say is the lack of MP3 output jack and the Cruise control, but everything else is gravy.

The MP3 jack is easy to fix. There are a couple of boxes that plug into the CD changer on the back of the HU. These boxes have an mp3 jack or more (ipod interfaces, bluetooth interfaces). I installed one on my base sport with an input jack and a built-in mp3 player. The built-in mp3 player plays songs from either an SD card or USB flash drive. My DIY is here:

What the 2011 Fit Sport has the base model does not:

-Paddle shifters with the Automatic transmission
-16' Alloy wheels
-185/55 R16 83H tires
-Security system with remote entry
-Fog lights
-Headlights housings with Tinted Chrome Bezels
-Body colored underbody kit
-Body colored rear roofline spoiler
-Chrome exhaust finisher
-Leather wrapped steering wheel
-Map lights
-Floor maps
-same audio system but with 6-speakers
-rear stabilizer bar
-Sport track: 58.1/57.4 ...vs base: 58.7/58.1
-Sport weight with AT: 2604 ...vs base: 2575

If you don't need or want that stuff... get the base.

Originally I had planned on purchasing the base but I'm not
sorry I purchased the Sport.

EDIT: removed cruise control from the list

Cruise comes on the base model with the 2011's.
One of the reasons I got the Sport model in 2010 was to get cruise control--even fewer difference between base manual & sport manual in 2011.

Just picked up a 2011 TW base model with 5 speed M/T yesterday. it came with cruise control and iPod and AUX hookup. I had to shell out for security system though.

I got the 08 base model but it is hard to tel it is a base. When I got it they already added the wing, tint, and taken the fit logo and replaced it with the europe Jazz logo so I love it. I had to look for what would be different and it's the fog but I like it wothout them. The stereo situation is a huge plus on the sport but I can upgrade for much less. All in all my gd3 base is perfect
