My Fit almost got backed into by an effing truck...

Today, my Fit almost got backed into by a truck that was 3 times the size of my car. It happened at a gas station as I was waiting to refill my gas tank. I was already on the verge of nervousness since my gas tank was almost empty, and the indicator that tells me the gas is almost out, had turned on during my trip to pick up my sister from school. I was waiting for my turn to fill up my car after this truck would pull forward onto the road, UNTIL HE DECIDES TO REVERSE at a pretty fast speed . I instinctively had one hand to honk my horn and the other hand to shield my sister in case the truck did back into my car, bracing for impact. The truck stops at about 1 to 2 inches off my front bumper. At this point, my hands were shaking from the adrenaline pumping in, and bracing for impact. The guy gets out, and tells me to "F***ing reverse". There were a line of cars behind my car, how the hell am I gonna reverse? I told my sister to stay in the car and lock the doors, since I don't know what this guy could be capable of. I got out of the car and snapped back, "That is not the language you should say in front of a little girl, and why couldn't you just pull forward onto the road ahead of you? Did you even see my car in the first place?" He then goes on and bashes on my car being so small, how could anyone be able to see it. And I'm just thinking, THIS GUY WOULD HAVE ACTUALLY BACKED OUT INTO ME. The guy was still being stubborn about not pulling forward, until a cop came by and asked what the problem was. The guy just yells out that I am not reversing for him to back out of the gas station. The cop looks at me and then to the line of cars behind my car. He tells the guy to calm down and suggested to pull his car forward. The guy still refused to pull his truck forward. The cop gives him a warning to either pull his car forward, or receive a citation. The guy gives in and pulls his truck forward, leaving onto the road ahead. After that matter, I thanked the cop for his help, and I was finally able to fill my gas tank...wasting half an hour to do it...

People can be so stupid sometimes.

I almost thought you said he "bashed" your car, like he slammed his fists onto the bonnet or something! I was expecting you to have did a flying kick into his face after that till I realized you meant a verbal bashing..

I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through all that. Some people can be plain assholes!

I have a funny feeling that will not be the last time that happens to anyone. I recently saw several people get upset with eachother at a gas station in town (the gas price was lower at that station than at any other in town) so naturally there was a line of vehicles trying to get gas. As I sat there calmly looking at the scene, I could see several people getting aggitated. Turns out, because there were so many people using all the pumps at once, the gas wasn't coming out the usual speed. So people that were in a hurry were getting PO'd about watching the gas pump very slowly in their vehicles.

Glad the cop was there to defuse the situation because he sounded like he was too stubborn to understand that it would be much easier for him to move forward then for you to reverse back and make every other car reverse back. Plus if you all reversed, that would have left room for a person to cut in and get to the pump while all of you were waiting your turns.

peace,

I never go to the cheapest gas stations for this specific reason. Not sure if this was the case for you or not but around here the cheapest station is always packed and it's always a pain in the ass. With our small tank, even if I had to fill up with 10 gallons, a $.10 price difference would only cost me $1 more. More than cheap enough for piece of mind since I'm usually the only person there. People are getting crazy these days I hate driving anywhere.

Thank goodness your sister and you were not hurt. That guy was a real jerk! I have had to honk my horn once when I thought someone did not see my car and was getting too close for comfort. That guy was probably upset about how much it cost him to fill up his huge gas hog and he just took it out on you. Sorry you had to deal with that but some people are just massively huge jerks.
