My manual BOM was in California on Friday and I was told to expect it sometime next week. (Just got an email it's in NM and should be here in DFW within 7 days.)

It was a car they already had on order, and once it had been assigned (I'm guessing that means built, vin issued) I actually went in and started the paperwork process and agreed on all the numbers. They did this in lieu of leaving a deposit.

So, my total time will hopefully come in just under a month.

I did find one other BOM manual at another dealer about a month ago, but my old car hadn't sold and trade-in wasn't favorable. That one was gone within a few days, by the time I was ready to buy.

Mine will end up being almost a two month wait. I ordered at the end of April, it was supposed to be by the end of May. That day came and went, it was delayed until between June 11 and 15. My parents went in to pick up their new Accord the other day and checked on my Fit, and they said it has been delayed again until between the 17th and 21st. I sold my car May 21 and have been without one since (not too bad since I walk to work), but I haven't left my town since then. It's getting old quick. And of course, no other Honda dealerships in Delaware have Fits, they sell them the same day or very soon after getting them in.

I've have a 5-speed, Blaze Orange Metallic on order for three weeks. The due date is sometime in August for it.

About three months ago - I had the same on order, but back then, my wife decided she wanted to keep her Accord - and we got the deposit back. It was gone the same day.

It's the color/5-speed combination that you want - that will take a long time to get. I'm pretty sure it's the most difficult to find. There are 4 or 5 automatic BOM's new around the States right now.

If you've never seen the BOM in person - know that the Orange is a really light Orange - almost Pink-ish. The pictures you see online always seem to make the car look deep Orange. A co-worker has an Orange Element, and another has the BOM Fit (Auto). The Fit almost looks a "salmon" color next to the Element. I still think that BOM is a great color - but if you're getting it sight-unseen, be prepared that the Orange is lighter than most pictures show. It changes in different lighting conditions - and looks great with dark tinted windows.

I have a 5 spd BOM and it's no where near a pinkish color. It's not the darkest orange the world but it's not as light as you describe either. And this is in the mid-day sun as well. And to the starter of the thread BOM is a pretty hard color to find. I just got lucky when I went to the dealer to test drive. When I saw they had a BOM fit I decided before I test drove that I wasn't leaving that day without it. If you can wait I suggest you do. It's a great color and it hides dust pretty well.

Angry Dammit!

OK, so, the guy who sold me my Fit apparently looked all over the place and found me a Fit that he'd be able to trade for. He called the next day and said it would be there Tuesday or Wednesday of last week.

(FYI, none of the dealers around here have ANY Fits of any sort sitting on the lots, but they're all getting a shipment every week. Most of the ones I talked to aren't taking orders anymore because of the insanity of all the people wanting Fits, but they will look through what they've got en route to the dealer and let you put your deposit on a specific one that's already on its way. Oh, and the websites list plenty of Fits on their inventory, but then when I call, this seems unrelated to what they actually can get any time soon.)

So, on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon, I call the dealer. Both times they say the guy isn't in today, and no one else is too interested on checking to see if my car is there.

Wednesday evening I get a call from another guy there, saying he saw in the log that I was interested in an orange Fit, and there might be one coming in next week, and would I be interested? I tell him that I already put down a deposit on one last week. He looks, says there's no record of it. WHAT?!

I argue with this guy, call the receptionist repeatedly, finally get someone to connect me to the original guy's boss.

Boss guy says "my" Fit arrived Tuesday, except that the original sales guy screwed up and located an orange <i>automatic<i>. They assure me he's been fired for this. That doesn't make me feel any better. Now some poor guy doesn't have a job, and it doesn't help me any. They're not willing to pay for my rental car or give me a discount or anything.

Thursday evening, the guy who had called me saying he saw that I was interested in a Fit has managed to find me one at another dealer that he's positive will show up at the dealership tomorrow. I really hope he means it this time. He's not able to get me the VIN, but swears up and down that it's coming Monday.

(In the meantime, I've called six other dealers, but no one can get me any manual sport quicker than two weeks, and no one can get me orange any time in the foreseeable future. Grr!)

I guess it depends on how you count. I never put in an order. I made my buy back in Feb when nothing was moving. I negotiated a price through email for a base AT. Test drove it the morning we agreed we would buy. 3 hours later, walked out with a new VBP Base AT Fit. It took me about a week to negotiate for a price I liked. Negotiating by email made it easy for us and the dealers.

Put a deposit on my Fit on June 7th, dealer had 10 coming in and 8 were already on deposit. They arrived on the 18th and when I went to pick mine up all were sold. Most other dealerships in the area (Central Mass) were on 3-4 week wait. They just can't keep them on the lot.
Well worth the wait.....love my Fit!

I was one of the lucky ones and didn't even realize it. Walked into the dealership, test drove a base model because it was the only manual transmission there. Manager told me a vivid blue 5mt sport would be coming in the next day. Put a deposit down and came back the next day.

I would have waited a month and a half, but I needed the car before school.

It's funny, isn't it? Here in Kansas City area, we had Fits on the lot in March and April. They didn't stay long, but we could discount them $100 or $200. Then gas started going up and they were all presold.

I waited 30 days for my own VBP MT Sport to come in. I could have had BBP MT Sport earlier, but hey, I live in the land of gravel roads. So to get what I wanted, I waited. Did I mention I work here?

So I spoke to a girl last night on the phone, she wanted a Civic. I told her about an unsold base Fit (she'd never seen the Fit before) and she said she'd be here at 9 AM. The Fit sold while we were on the phone. So she comes in with a jackass boyfriend who is very confrontational and I had to ask him to leave. What a shame. She was a nice lady.

The supply of Fit's seems to be very regional. The dealership where we bought ours shows 21 in inventory. Just about every combo except BOM manual

Congrat's! I think Fit ownership in NA must have doubled in the past 6 months. I bet the '07 guys are hating the sudden glut.
