The Ford does look better, but I believe that is the concept. Lets see what the actual model lookes like.

Also it won't be out until 2010. I believe this new Fiesta is base on the Mazda 2 which I really love. The handling on the Fiesta should be top notch consider it's a mazda under the skin.

More power? More weight?
This rarely comes with improved fuel economy. I would rather have the same or less power in a lighter package.
This kind of engineering is ok but why not make it as effiecient as the Civic CRX HR of yore?

Honda has worked to improve the ride of the new Fit. "We are very aware that the predecessor was a little firm," says chief engineer Kohei Hitomi, "so we spent a lot of time fixing that."

And thats a good thing? Maybe for most people it is, but a firm ride is a plus to me.

I gotta be honest, that Ford DOES look pretty good. Unique exterior, spaceship interior. Sucks that it's still a Ford though.

Actually it's an Mazda so it'll be pretty nice.

118hp at the crank isn't that much over 109 at the crank. You can get the extra 9 flywheel hp from an intake.

Kinda sketchy on the Ford...aren't the Fiesta's supposed to be built in Mexico? Nothing against Mexico, just not a name that comes up when you think build quality...

Would there even be that much of a difference with and extra 9 horsepower? I highly doubt it.

I believe there is a video out that shows the current Fit, and the new one racing against one another.. the current Fit was faster than the new.

the ford's interior looks like those boom boxes you find at like walmart
and k-mart but the exterior looks decent other than those 2 boxes
on the grill which appears to be meaningless?

out of those two, i would take the 09Fit.

Just saw a photo on motortrend of the possible production model of the 2010 Fiesta. It looks like a Ford Focus with sleeker and longer headlights...

needless to say.. i think the Focus looks like poop

If it's the one I'm thinking of, the current Fit wasn't faster--just better at cornering. On the few straight stretches, the new Fit had no trouble catching up to the older one

There were no stretches to accurately gauge this. The only time I saw the new one "catch up" was when the current had to brake for the turn. For the most part they seemed pretty close with the only hand going to the current gen in turning as it had better exit speed; which you did note.
