thanks for everyone's input! hopefully the traffic on the 5 won't be too bad. i'm sure my steering wheel will receive a lot of head banging damage...

 

Oh i and would let my friend drive if got tired man. We went down to hilton head earlier this summer (I checked everything that everyone listed here.) which was like a six hour drive and we switched off every so often. Granted it wasn't in the fit, but it made a big difference.
