It took a while...

...but the time has finally come.

My son has never been a motorhead and never cared to learn how things worked or why when it came to cars. All he's cared about was his girlfriend and his music. That is of course until he bought his first car this last Friday. He was initially frustrated since he couldn't drive his "5 speed" as easily as he could mom's 4WD automatic SUV so I basically told him that either he sold the car and bought an automatic or listened to what I had to say but I wasn't going to help him any more until he started to listen!!!

24 hours later he has it darn near perfected and he is as elated as I am proud. Granted I haven't mentioned double clutching or heel-toe-shifting but he has it!

We just spent the last 2 hours in the garage because he actually cares what I have to say. He sat through my speals on tire pressure, oil levels, how to change a flat and everything else.....AND HE WAS INTERESTED! He even let all the air out of a tire just so he could inflate it properly (cuz I did it wrong )

I never thought the day would come where we would bond in the garage but alas.......the day has come and we both had a blast!!!!

I love you Jacob.

YES!

I'm happy for you and your son!

I've been lucky that my Dad and I both have a passion for cars and motorcycles, so we always have had that bond.

Once your son starts revmatching, heeltoeing.....he will never be the same.

Nice... Mom taught me... drove in circles in an elementary school parking lot stopping and starting for several hours, then out and about on the town - Dad hates manuals, and mom doesn't drive one anymore, but she had one at the time. My first car was a manual (a six year old 1992 Accord) and I've only bought one automatic, a mistake I won't be making again.
