Why are used Fits so expensive?
i know this is an old thread, but i wanted to chime in.
i don't understand why the used honda fits aren't much cheaper than new ones. i am sure its mainly because of demand, but also probably because the honda dealers are able to make them certified used, and that is a good warranty.
but i still think the used prices are rediculous. i think we are all better off waiting for a good deal from Honda on new ones and going for that.
about a year ago i almost bought a fit, but ended up getting a great deal on a older Accord. at that time used ones were less expensive than i'm finding now. really surprising. .... sign of the times i guess.

Remember "Cash for Klunkers"? That program took how many 100,000 used cars off of the road. That result was to drive the price of all used cars up. I have a used Colorado that I bought just before that dumb program went into effect. Since then I have put 45,000 miles on it and it is worth about 175% of what I paid for it.
Now add to that the fact that the Honda Fit is a high demand, low maintenance, good MPG car and you have the current pricing levels.

Only items custom made for the buyer or governments that promise stuff they cannot do are outside the conditions of supply and demand.
Remember the initial sales of Miatas? If you don't let me tell you the first 3 we got in sold for as much as $3300 MORE THAN MSRP. We had at least a dozen buyers for every one of them. I bought the 4th one, drove it for a year, and sold it for what I paid for it. And I am reminded constantly by my wife, who dearly loved it, of that mistake.
Fits sell for high used values because they are the best of small, non hybrid cars. Even Consumer Reports swoon when they speak of it in spite of the fact that thedVersa is roomier, has more get up and go in the regular oine, and is cheaper. And like most Hondas the aftermarket is a benefit unparalleled.
BTW, how's the economics of that Accord compared to the Fit?
Some Fits of the right color or options have sold used for as much as brand new ones. Limited supply, great demand, equals higher price to pay.
