OEM oil Filter v. Mugen v. everything else...

Have seen a couple of things here that have stated the Honda filters are not any better than Fram...which I find kind of hard to believe.

Am considering down the road which filter would be the best. I have used Mobil 1 and sometimes K&N (when they run them on sale) but that is about it.

Have found a few websites where the OEM Honda filters are running around $5 each. Also noticed some venders have a Mugen oil filter (Honda filter with new paint and logo?). Just curious if they are worth purchasing or stay with the FLAPS and the aftermarket brands...

i wouldnt worry. dealer uses it, why would you need to worry about the quality?
honda would rather not deal with warranty work on a engine just for a $2 oil filter....
just change oil and filter regulary.

i agree. the frequency of the changes is far more important than the quality of the filter or the oil. from personal experience, using exclusively fram filters on a '94 accord that we bought brand new and had for 14 years had absolutely no negative impacts on the engine.

Don't quote me but I was told in the past Frams did have some problems with there quality. But have since fixed the issues. Also on another forum I am on there is a guy taking filters apart and researching them. He states that the WollyWorld oil filters are really good. I have been running for the last year with no issues on my Saab. So take it anyway you want but I wouldn't discredit them. I was using Mobil 1's which I found out really are just a high priced item. Also the Puralotor Pure One is a really good on to. Just my .02.

There was a website sometime back where they took apart about every oil filter available on the US market.

One of the things they looked at was surface area of the filtering media and how that compared to ability to filter. I think Wix was at the top of the list.

Ah well - as metioned before - the key is regular changes... Just trying to dig up some opinions.
