newbie asking about 09 fit

hi
i currently searching for a new car for the fall when i go back to school
its a 16km commute daily, so the fit caught my attention.

i was going to purchase and 08 fit but realized that a new one is released in the fall.

now i read up about the improved in engine and space, but the thing that caught my attention was the neat skyview roof.

but they never mentioned if the north american fit would get this feature.

so does anybody know if we are getting this, because i would love to know so i can solidify my decision.

no we won't get the skyroof. That's for the JDM version only. The US has strict safety standards and a skyroof on the fit does not qualify for the safety standards.

However, i think that the skyroof should not be a deal breaker to purchase a fit. The car itself is very fun to drive so skyroof or not, you will enjoy both the drive and the gas consumption.

I'm thinking the skyroof on the JDM version is a fixed glass roof, not a true sunroof that can be opened.
Like others have mentioned, this car is fun to drive regardless. Best small car out there, IMO. I wanted a sunroof too but I love the car even without it. You can always do an aftermarket for around $800-900, which I'm thinking of doing myself.

I don't understand that safety distinction myself--if that were so, you'd think that convertibles would be outlawed!

I'm waiting to test out the 2009 as well bud. Trust me the wait sucks. I get the urge to just go out and buy the 2008 all the time...
