Sponsorships?
Sponsorships?
How does one go about getting one? There's a shop by me called velocitytrends.com and also stage6motorsports.com and I was wondering if it was at all possible to get sponsored by them and slap a bunch of their stickers on my ride in exchange for free or steep discounts on parts they could order for me. I'm just curious!
they usually want to see what you have planned for your car and whether you will be competing, and chances of getting their name out. They like to see schedules for either races you will compete in or shows you will showoff in. They wont sponsor you if you are just putting stickers on your car and nothing else.
I remember reading this blog entry a few months back:
Original Made » N.I.C (Not to be confused with H.N.I.C)
Original Made » N.I.C (Not to be confused with H.N.I.C)
lol thanks for making me feel like a huge tool
I am just hurting on money and I was a bit curious. I am not being selfish. The way I see it is it never hurts to ask!

Sorry, didn't mean to be jerk with that link, it's just something I remembered when you mentioned sponsorships. For the most part, I think companies wouldn't sponsor a nearly bone stock car unless you already have had a show car or something from before that wins at events. But like you said, it won't hurt to try. It's just that one guy's opinion on sponsorships anyways.
if your looking for sponsors there is always carsponsorships.com i see them at HIN and some other shows I am in no way recommending or giving neg feedback about them just putting my .02 in. I looked into it but the list of companies they display sponsorships (full and part) for werent really my taste...but a friend of mine in NJ did it and he got some pretty good deals
I tried a few tire companies for the show in Calgary, but no dice
Yeah the only companies that caught my eye are Fidanza and Dunlop. A tire sponsor would be awesome! I dunno, everything else on that site is kinda meh. Magazine coverage would be cool!

LOL some sponsership is a BIG scam me and my buddy were getting sponsered by sportcompact. about 6 or so years ago i still have my papers ill have to find them and scan them up to show you guys. all it was was you contacted sport compact and thay send you this app. after you sent in pic of your car and your plans, my friend went along with it wail i decided other wise becouse of the $ you had to pay for somthing with the contract. and he did it and thay said he had to go to like 5 major shows a year including nopi and things like that and he got like 1500$ twords his car just for the first batch of loot and i think he got like a bunch more after that LOL then a few down the road thay told him he had to pay it ALLLL back lol i was like dam glad i dident do that.
its really hard to get a full sponsorship. you are better off putting up some good money and getting a partial sponsorship from a local shop or a shop that you really like that will give you parts for cost or at a very discounted price. no one will sponsor a car that has no chance at winning race events or a chance at getting in a magazine.

When you are speaking of sponsorship you have to see what you can offer to make them look good.
You'll need to win a few A/X's, do well in a few races, win a few auto show trophies. Something that the sticker viewers will see as a reason to visit your sponsor or buy his products.
Without that you're no more than the viewers are and thats not a real positive ad for them.
Sponsorships are great - we've both had them as well as provided them. The view expressed is pretty much the same for all sponsorships. First you have to show your worth then you can campaign for assistance. But don't expect sponsorships to show up without a reason. And buying their parts isn't one of them. Any discounts you could get will be just as available with stickers as without. Stickers of course are appreciated.
Now once you have a track record that can be verified, trophies, awards, newspaper and other accounts, then you can make a 'pitch' to the prospective sponsor. Stress what you have done, how many people will see his 'stickers' and how often, and what you propose to do for your requested sponsorship. You select the amount or service discount you think you need. Leave any negotiation til there is interest. Be sure to note that your advertising is direct, that is it gets his name before the people who will buy such stuff rather than the general public whom 99% couldn't care less. The more people you reach per $ of sponsorship the better. And don't be afraid to compare newspapers with A/X, race or showcar event publicity. We found newspapers to be 5 times more expensive than direct advertising with competitors, per viewer. The results of 'where did you see our name?' questions of new buyers was overwhelmingly in favor of direct advertising compared to wide media. (and in our case, less costly and much better sales).
Good luck.

for sure thats what I did, I get 25% off of product, which is atleast $30 and sometimes $100 cheaper than "on sale" parts from some vendors on here
