My first Fit...2009 or 2008?
My first Fit...2009 or 2008?
I am 100% sure I am going to purchase a new Fit Sport for my next vehicle. The dilemma I'm having is whether to go with an '08 or '09. As of right now, I'm leaning more towards the '09, but I personally prefer the body style of the '08. From what I've read online, they have made several improvements with '09, as well as adding lots of new features. I guess what I want to know is, aside from the apearance and lower price, would there be any benefit to getting a 2008 model? Is it just a matter of personal preference?
On another note, does anyone know for sure what will be included in the '09 model when it's released in the states? Alot of the information I read has been based on the Japanese model.
I know these have been confirmed for the US model:
-1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, i-VTEC® engine (118 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 107 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm )
-5-speed manual transmission or 5-speed automatic transmission w/available paddle shifters
-Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)
-Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure
-Anti-lock braking system (ABS) w/Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD)
-Active front head restraints
-Dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags, side-curtain airbags
-more interior space
-improved ride and handling
Can someone give the pros and cons (exluding the body style and price)?
On a side note, I read somewhere that they were offering the continuously variable transmission (CVT) as an option. Has this been confirmed?

2008 fo sho
The 2009 in the video didn't have the hideous front end that the US version is getting.
Both Fits had the 1.5L. It said in the video the 1st gen Fit was a 1.5L Sport and that the 2nd gen was an RS, so they were both equipped with the L15. That Suzuki Swift Sport has the biggest engine of the bunch, a 1.6L with 125hp, and it is supposed to be a phenomenal car, so its no real surprise that both of the Fits lost to it on the strip and track.
