Proud new Pearl Blue Fit owner... what to do?

Hey guys, after much debate, I walked away from the Versa and Mazda3 and decided to the join the Fit-family. Actually, I got it as an early graduation gift (any Longhorns here?).

I got my baby June 28th for $15.3 (basic auto-transmission model, pearl blue) and named her "Anela" the very same night. As of now, my only investments include a Garmin GPS and tints all the way around.

I was wondering what I should get next? I would like to get two 12s but don't know very much on good brands or whatever's trendy. I also want 16-17" wheels.

Anybody have any ideas on what I should do to the body (kits, lips, etc.), for audio, wheels, anything else? Let's just assume my budget is $2000.

Thanks, and I look forward to being very active on the forums.

Fit

In my opinion, decide on what final outcome you want for your ride. If you are going for looks, drop, rims, system is a good start. Or if you want to go performance, omit the system or anything that will hinder the performance aspect of the car. All in all, It's up to you on how you want to spend your money. Don't let anybody influence you in doing something you don't want. Just my 2 cents.BTW WELCOME to the board.

Hey guys,

thank you for the welcome. Here are some of the things I do want, though:

1. Change out the OEM system to get a in-dash touch screen mp3, dv/cd player, and navigation.
2. 16 or 17 inch rims. If I get a CF hood, then I was planning to get gold rims and a black spoiler. Any other ideas for a blue base model fit?
3. Some type of security system.
4. A good audio system for the car, nothing "loud." I just want something where you can feel the music and understand the words.
5. HID lights.

That's all I can think of for now but I'm very happy with my fit. Awesome mileage and it looks great. It's just super slow but it's worth the investment. Thanks a lot for all of your responses.

Sounds like you want to go with audio first. For a budget around $2000, I'd start with something like this:

Pioneer F700BT or F900BT (900 has DVD playback, 700 only CD. Both have Navigation and Bluetooth!) headunit.

Add a small 8" or 10" sub with a small box or custom enclosure. A small mono amp should power that puppy up nicely. You can swap out the stock speakers too, but that is up to you.

That should leave you enough money to get some other upgrades, but it depends on where you want to go. You should have about $500 to $700 left. You might be able to get away with a used set of 16" wheels with some worn down tires for the amount left over. It really depends on the look that you want. You could also get a full catback system and an intake for that price as well. Lots of options, you just need to decide in stone what you want to do in what order and we can help you piece together the best parts

As far as body and lip kits go, get the Fit Sport lip kit. You don't have to get it painted and OEM usually looks the best.

Hey guys, keep the responses coming!!

I want to work on wheels first. Either black 16s or 17s with the Fit Sport kit. Can I get the OEM pieces anywhere? Where!?

Next, I want to work on a better radio unit. That pioneer one suggest above sounds great. I wanted and indash unit with dvd playback, navi, and wireless bluetooth, so I can sell my Garmin away. Of course, a set of 12s or is this too much? Someone suggest something fit for a...... fit.

Lastly, I'll work on anything else if I have the money. Since I have an auto transmission, isn't it weird to get an air intake and catback?

yeah alpine iva w505 is suppose to be super greatness. for around 800-1k. depending on whoever sells it.

and then i would recommend rocking a nine 2x amp from elemental designs and a 130v. 10 is nice, but i love 12's due to the music i listen too.
shit man..ive had 2(12"), 1(18"),1(10"),2(8") before in my fit. i definitely like just 1 12" sub.
you can do a package deal, call ben up and he will hook you up.

all together that should be around 1500 total for the h/u and the sub and amp.

then just get an intake for 200....and if you want rock a used 50mm skunk 2 catback for 300 and your set.

but since you want wheels first.....then i would say rock some 16' rotas/drag wheels best bang for your buck. dont go 17's...unless your gonna slam your ride.
800 with tires,

eibach lowering springs-215 shipped

alpine 9887 for around 350...

alpine type s sub 100 bucks (10")

box-40

wires 75-100

dash kit-75-100

meh..you get the idea.

no its not weird to get that stuff.

i would highly recommend getting an intake only because it improves gas mileage and it gives that nice WOT sound when gunning it.

h-fit.com has a good intake. fujita short rams are nice too

Okay guys,

So far I'm adding a type-r urethane lip kit. I can get some friends to help me get it on (I'm car stupid), but was wondering how much it would cost to paint it VPB. I will probably look for the OEM spoiler unless I find a cheaper one elsewhere.

I'm looking at getting darker tints (it's currently 30-35%). I'm also clueless as to what wheels I want although SD's gold advans are sexy.

Just to remind everyone, I have the base model. What would you do (just for me to get some ideas). I currently have about $1000 in hand.

.... regret that I didn't get manual now =(

well...what i would do...

hm....

1k in hand.

tint-$150-200 MAX! make sure you get 5% on the hatch, you wont regret it. i dont know if you have laws over there on tint, but if you dont i would rock 5% all around. if you do...rock 20% all around except the hatch

essentially your getting the knock off OEM lip kit, so thats what $365 shipped.from tunerzimage.

your at like 560ish

hm..... paint all around will cost you around 150-200. with a hook up.
most people pay around 100 just for the front lip around CA.

that leaves you with around 250...

drop your car

eibach lowering springs, or tein s.techs 215shipped to your door.

there you have it man....1k well spent.

btw...you should have gotten the sport model. that 1k essentially went to your lip kit and some wheels.

Hey SD, I do regret it sort of just because it would've been a lot less stressful looking for these things now. However, after looking at 4 dealerships (2 in Dallas, 2 in Houston) I finally found a NEW dealership that had the Fit. One other dealership had a Sport but was selling it for 18k firm due it being the last one. I got my base for $15.3k so I was incredibly happy since it took me the 4th dealership trip to find a VBP one.

Tint for me will only cost $120 (I know the owner of a shop). I will get it 20% (state law is set at 25% now, but what the heck haha). Yes, I'm looking at Tunerz for the kit, and will get it painted for under $100 (same garage as the tint). The Eibach springs sound great. Hopefully, I'll have this done by the end of this month. Been busy traveling Texas.

Any VPB owners want to show me a picture of your Fit? much appreciated.

Thanks SD for all the advice.

Hey Jeff, I've actually been searching for a few Dallas FF friends but I'm either in Carrollton (stuff is still at my ex's place) or at Highland Park where I work.

If I see any information on meets, I definitely want to come and see what other people are doing with their cars. I've never been into cars until now so I'm still trying to pick up as much as I can from the forums.

I'm thinking whether to mod the Fit one by one or just keep saving and doing a bunch of things at once. My friend is telling me to wait because my taste may change over time and extra income (just started working). We'll see. I may work on the interior things first with my saved money.

Any other options on a double din in dash? and audio?
