Wink 2009 = lots more goodness!!

There is lot more than meets the eye to the 09 Fit, like...

The new top model will be a Fit Sport w/ Navigation. This will be the same touch screen system that is currently in use in the Civics & CR-V's.

The navi models will also be equiped with Hondas VSA or Vehicle Stability Assist program for added safety.

The USB port will be on Sport and Sport Navi models only (sorry Base buyers)

All models:
Equiped with daytime running lights

The back seat head rest are the nesting or shingle style (like the center head rest on the current Fits) so there is no need to move the front seats when putting the rear seats down.

Sport models will have 16" wheels and tires, Base models 15".

Some new colors too:

Crystal Black Pearl replaces the Nighthawk Black Pearl
Blue Sensation Pearl replaces the Vivid Blue
Orange Revolution Metalic replaces the Blaze Orange Metalin on the Sport models

and... the return of Taffeta White to all models!!

Oh and don't forget about the secret storage compartment on the bottom of the driver side back seat! Very cool!!

DrD - out

I love the body styling of the 2007 and 2008 but with the longer/wider stance, more hp and power plus better suspension - I would just wait a little longer and get the 2009. I am planning to drop in and test drive one just for the fun of it!

If you can wait, definitely go for the '09. The '08 is good, but why go for the soon-to-be obsolete model when you can have the new and improved one without much wait (assuming that you get in line with your deposit right now)?

Spare Tire or Not

Ok, lots of places to post this - I'll just do it here.
A spare tire or no for the 09 FIT?
On other forums some say no spare. I just can't see that for the NA market. Has any one seen a spare at one of the car shows? I love the FIT but would seriously pass on it if no spare. Can any one put some light on this topic. Thanks.

Models displayed at various North American shows (including Canada) did not have the spare tire. If that is true for production, then it would be an about-face from the initial Honda announcement in 2007 that the non-JDM next-gen Fits would have spare as standard. We will soon find out....

Then again, Honda is about as about-face as any auto manufacturer can ever be.

It's already been discussed in the 09 Fit thread that is stickied at the top of the forum. Nobody knows for sure, but many are guessing the US models will have one.

Spare - No Spare

I haven't heard either way... but no spare would mean using run-flat tires (ie. Mini Cooper) and there has been no mention of this feature...

As a side bar... the 2005-2007 Odyssey Touring models all had the Michellin PAX run-flat tires. This feature was so dislike by so many potential buyers that in 2008 the PAX tires became a factory option.

So my guess would be that since a majority of Odyssey buyers didn't want the run-flats neither will Fit buyers so why use them!!

Not necessarily. The JDM Fit just carries a flat repair kit, and does not use the run-flat tires.

Fix-a-flat

Yeah if you consider a can of Fix-a-Flat a repair kit!

Hmm... A seven-year running car with practically every problem nailed out versus a second year car still bound to have major upgrades before the next model change? :b

New Fit is ugly.

hmm i'd say 09. just because you'd have a fresh look that would last longer than the rest of ours.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the current gen Fit (1st gen) have a spare as an option on the JDM models? And everyone was freaking out wondering if there would be no spare for the USDM?

If you can wait, then I'd say wait and get the new updated model. The Fit/Jazz current model has been out for MANY years now.

ALSO I LOVE the moonroof or is it a sunroof?

Unhappy No sunroof for US market

All data so far points to no sunroof, no 1.3 engine, and no All Wheel Drive, for the US market.

For what it's worth, I had the same dilemma, which was discussed in the following thread:

I prefer the current body style by far. The new creature comforts I can totally live without. I'm comfortable enough in my Fit. Only thing I wouldn't mind is that hidden storage compartment under the rear seat for....well...you know. I mean what cop would ever think to look in there?

The cost of nav is ridiculous when a top of the line Garmin which fits perfectly on the car will cost you ALOT less.
