Aftermarket Keyless Entry

Hey guys,

I want to get aftermaket keyless entry, but I am worried that if I get it done ( not at a Honda dealer) it will effect my extended warranty on my car. Does anyone know the cost to get this done at a Honda shop?

Thanks again!
~Jon~

it shouldn't void your warranty unless the keyless entry damaged
something directly related to the electrical system. dealer might
give you some bs that it would void your warranty but it shouldn't.

typically should take no more than 2-3hrs to do, so say $65/hr x2.

most stereo shops should be able to install it.

Thanks for the info. I would be pissed if it voided my warranty, i paid for the extended warranty, so that wouldent even be worth it. I guess i would need to look into it a little bit more, and call my dealership.

oh yah, if you get an alarm system with the keyless entry make sure
you ask where they put the shock censor so that you can change
the settings in case they set it too sensitive. It's just a little black
box about a size of a celphone with a dial.

it's pretty annoying when your neighbor shuts their door and your
car alarm goes off each time. lol

you can order the factory keyless entry system online for around $120 shipped. it's fairly easy to install yourself, it's plug and play. it will save you a lot of money. i just got it last month.

That sounds like a very good option.. But again I am worried about it screwing with my warranty..

Is it really that easy to install myself?

factory stuff almost always come with illustrated instructions so
if you've ever put together a RC car you can do it with ease.

Yes, it's easy to install, about 15-20 min if you're not mechanically challenged. Bernardiparts.com is having a special on it now for around $95 before shipping.

The only tricky part is finding the connector above the fuse panel. It's hard to see but there are no other unused connectors up there so you should be able to find it by feeling around. It's easier to see if you look through the fuse access hole on the front of the dash.
