Base cruise control

Just picked up a new 2008 Fit base automatic. Anyone here had an aftermarket cruise control installed. I would like to hear your opinions. Thank you. Philip.

I don't know if Honda offers it as an accessory but it is usually extremely easy to fit with a drive-by-wire throttle. The programing is already there, Honda just doesn't give you the button on your steering wheel to get you to shell out the extra money for the Sport.

You could probably swap a Sport steering wheel in if you really wanted to.

Personally I have never used cruise on any car I've owned. I don't see the point of it. Does your foot REALLY get tired on the gas? Unless I was driving n a really really long road with zero other cars on it I can't see the use for it.

Honda does not offer an aftermarker cruise control for the Fit. No, my right foot does not get tired. I use cruise control on every car I drive, especially on the highway. Keeps my speed contant, less tickets, and I dont have to look at the speedometer every 1/2 mile to see if I am going too slow or too fast. Thanks for the reply. Philip.

you could try pricing out the factory parts for it as an add-on. A mazda dealer told me it was only $300 in parts to add it onto a mazda 3 base - all the connections are in place. I would think it would be similar with the fit. I think collegehillshonda has a parts catalog - start there.

so basically you're buying a new steering wheel (less airbag) with the
control switches and the harness?

Here you go:

The Cruise Control Store

They make an aftermarket cruise control kit for the Fit. $349 (not including installation)

issues

initially I thought I'd buy a base and have an after market cruise setup installed. I wanted cruise but didn't want to pay $1400 extra to get it. I researched fit owners that had such units installed as well as acquaintances that had had cruise installed in other vehicles. There always seemed to be issues such as appearance of the unit, smooth operation and dependability. Many claimed the after market units stopped working after a year or so. Just make sure you get a warranty from a reputable establishment. The sport's cruise IS perfect as cruise control goes!

*BUMP* Anyone tried to install cruise on a 2008 Fit Base?

We have a 2008 Fit Base we purchased brand new (had 4 miles on the odometer) and love. After the first 1800 mile road trip I lamented the lack of cruise control big time. Since I am the primary driver, this happens every time I go more than 50-60 highway miles anymore...my foot gets heavier, I speed up, and risk tickets.

Since the last poster added to this thread in 2008, has anyone tried an aftermarket (or factory) cruise control upgrade? If so, how does it work?
