It will depend on your insurer and your area. I suggest you get a quote. And the fit will be even slower

You might want to call around and get a few quotes...Since you're probably not bundled with house insurance, you can switch for better rates. And are you SURE those tickets have been removed?

Call your insurance agent and ask why your rate is so high. It might be the area you are in. In Houston, we pay more because we have a LOT of uninsured drivers (ahem, illegal immigrants).

once i get into the police academy im gettin a fit for sure!!

and im not too worried about how slow it is to be honest because i dont have a need for speed. i just wanna ride IN STYLE!!!

Hey good luck with the police academy! That's cool. Sorry you are paying so much for insurance in the meantime!

my parents are still paying my bill, but i know switching from a 98 camry xle v6 to the 2008 fit sport upped my insurance $106/6mo. I was a bit shocked at how much it went up - i was thinking maybe $50 more/6mo.
California, 20 years old, 1 accident, but mostly cleared off record, using Farmers with buttload of coverage by my parent's choice.

We pay about 700$/6 mo for BOTH cars (Fit and Subaru Impreza WRX STI). We have high coverage, low deductibles, married, both over 25 and clean record.

I have put down a deposit for the Fit but haven't gotten it so I can't speak for the Fit insurance. From my past experience, Honda cars seem to require higher insurance than Toyotas. For example, my old Civic had higher insurance rate than the subsequent Camry. The Camry being souple of thousands more expensive, and both have the same insurance company, same deductables, and same insured amount. Why is that I don't know. Also, the ad veloram tax was higher for the Civic. Both cars were brand new when I bought them. Sounds like the Camry being cheaper to own. I assume my new Fit will be similar to the Civic, which was almost 1000 for a year.

Does anyone know how insurance companies decide premium for each car? we are not talking about variation in driver's ability, age and history. I am talking about for the same driver, what makes one car more expensive to insure than the other?

I know that a lot of it has to do with the crash tests and how well the cars hold up. Another has to due with the car's history I.E. how frequently they are crashed. If a car has a history of being raced and crashed insurance for that car will be higher. That may be why the Camry is cheaper to insure than your Civic. I see way more modded Civics racing that I do Camrys.

It is my understanding that rates are based on the individual's credit rating, driving history (tickets, accidents, etc.), zip code of where car is registered, expense of repairs for that particular make/model, age of driver, and coverage selected.

I am paying $385 for a 6 month premium. I am also a 45 year old male with a clean driving record, good credit rating, and a customer of GEICO for 22 years. I also have my home insurance throught GEICO and an account with NFCU which I receive discounts on my premium as a benefit of each. Everytime I check around for a better rate - I can't seem to beat GEICO.

Maintain your credit history, drive safely and responsibly, and you will be rewarded greatly in the long run.
