Ok i was paying $150 a month on insurance for the fit than when i just turned 24 and the last ticket on my record got cleared my rate drpoed to $80 a month. I asked why is it still so high and they said the fit is new not to many crahses yet so they are still not sure about them. My S2K CR in yellow is only $6 more a month than the fit was that is crazy if u ask me
I know i've posted to an insurance thread somewhere, but what better time to update my info than now.
I pay $110/month with State Farm; 27 y/o male; multi-line, antitheft, & driver safety discount; accident surcharge; $500 deductibles; $50/100k limits of liability; and other full coverage stuff.
And just to let people keep this in mind when comparing rates, some insurance companies (mine included) do base your rate on your credit record. Luckily, my credit is still in decent shape, and I hope it stays that way.

My 6 month policy went up $45 total when I dropped my 2000 Mercury Cougar and added the 2009 Fit. The Cougar had a $1000 deductible on it and the Fit has $500. Considering that, I would say the increase was minor. Hell, I save more than $45 in gas over 6 months so it was easily worth the increase.
My overall policy price would be less if my wife could drive worth a damn. Speeding tickets, a minor fender bender and a car totaled. The totaled car wasn't her fault, the other driver even admitted that. Still, I can't help but think she could have avoided it if she was more defensive in her driving. I told her the next ticket isn't going to be fun so it better not even happen.

Oregon: $141/mo All State for 2 people
me: 24, clean record, 1st time owner
gf: 27, 1 fender bender (at fault), 1 accident (not at fault)
Our insurance went way up when we moved to Oregon. NY didn't even count the at-fault accident because the claim was under $1000, but Oregon has no limit. Geico wanted to charge $100/mo more! We shopped around and this was the best rate by far. It still seems high.

i tried insurance.com. they gave me an instant offer from 5 insurance companies, ranging from $800 to $1500 annually.... for the same policy!
i went with progressive ($800 annually).
bottom line: shop around.

I have a BASE model. And it DOES make a difference. I checked it out before buying and the Sport model was hundreds more.
I'm with AAA. So that means I need to pay for their membership, which adds on an additional $75.00 a year. But it has perks, like discounts and maps and stuff. Most of the discounts are travel and family-oriented.
But they even have a 10% discount if you order online at Target, clicking through the AAA site.

You'd probably have navigate to the state you're in. You can get a quote online. Since you all probably have your paperwork handy for this thread, might as well see what they would charge.
There is one service I did use, which is their DMV service. I was able to renew my registration and get a new sticker when my sticker was stolen off my license plate. In their office. I never had to get near DMV. YAY!
Rep for you!
Ah hah! I knew it. This just futher confirms my decision to get base over sport. The upgrades on the sport are not worth the extra money I have to spend every 6 months just to drive a sport. Of course this is insurance company BS. My base will go every bit as fast as a sport. They just charge you extra because it "sounds faster."

I tried to tell the insurance people it was "the same car", but they said it has to do with risk.
There's more of a risk (for them) for the car to be stolen. Or have the wheels stolen (no one will steal our steelies, LOL).
There's also a risk (for them) that a person who chooses a "sport" model will drive like a lunatic.
Of course, they didn't say it quite like that.
A lot of the add-ons for the FIT could be completely invisible to thieves. Anything under the hood. Anything on the suspension.
But it's just more of an invitation with the "sport" model to take it, or parts of it. There are other things they might want, like that navigation system or the other things that come with the navigation sport model.
Add on some fancy wheels or custom seats or specialty electronics, and the thieves salivate.
The thing insurance companies are aware of, is that thieves don't care what the car is worth, or what we owe. They care about making fast bucks off parts.
And that's what happened to someone here. Their wheels were stolen. It's fast money for the crook. And the rest of the car they didn't care about. It's too much bother.
When my old car was broken into, they took the incredibly crappy radio, and some odds and ends. The car itself was worthless, because it would be too hard to turn around. But those little things can be sold without blinking an eye at a swap meet.
50% of 260 is 130?
"insurance protection is you get what you pay for."
There's an old saying: "You get what you pay for if you know what you're doing, otherwise, you get what you deserve."
It pays to shop around. As for me, I'm 57, divorced, with a good driving record. Previously I paid $866/yr. to insure a '02 Dodge Neon. When I bought the '09 Fit Sport, my insurance dropped to $729/yr. (full coverage/low deductible)-go figure.
Of course, as luck would have it, I own the Fit for 2 months and have my first reportable accident in 40 years of driving. It's anybody's guess what that will do to my insurance rates.
