Aargh!! Scratched rear bumpers

Hi all,

I've noticed that the paint in the rear bumpers of my Fit gets scratched/scraped off real easily. Does anyone have this problem???
There are numerous scuffs in my bumper due to:

1) trying to take out 2 mountain bikes that I managed to squeeze in the back without removing the front wheels

2) trying to pull out a closet wardrobe (still in the box, but the box must have weighed 100 lbs).

3) Getting rear-ended (very slowly, but the screws from the license plate of the car that rear-ended me scraped off the paint in my bumper)

1) Get the applique.

2) be more careful

3) I have scuffs and scratches on the corner of my bumper because other people can't pull into/out of parking spaces. Not much you can do. Maybe park in the cart return. (the Fit fits in the Home Depot ones. I checked).

I have two bikes, built a bike holder. Take a 2 by 4, cut it to fit width wise in the rear area. mount a fork holder for each bike. The front tires have to come off, the bikes fit with about two inches between the rear tire and the hatch interior. Pretty tight, the 2 by 4 has to be as far forward in the rear area as possible. There will be no seat reclining with the bikes in the rear.

I can take a pic if you like.

Cheers.

Dont feel sad. At least you didnt scratch your bumper like mine, when I took it off to install the LED tailights, I put the bumper on the floor and the wind pushed it over so I got scuffs like on the concave part (where its like that so you can open the trunk) pointy corners where the applique is next to.

Get Meguiar's scratch-x. Works like a charm on surface scratches!

I got my new sport manual TWB Fit in June. I love the car and it's the first and maybe only brand new car I'll ever buy. Anyway, I also never got so riled up about chips or scratches on any of my other cars. A month after I had it a colleague backed into me in a parking lot but wouldn't take responsibility. I got a whopping big scratch and some other little scrapes and blemishes on the rear bumper. Decided that since the car was so new and I'd never had that happen to another car I would just go ahead and get it fixed. They've got to sand down the marks and then repaint the entire bumper to make it look perfect, so it's not cheap. But any further scratches or nicks, I just have to deal with. Anyway, I drove on a rough road in Colorado a few days ago, and although the fit handled great I discovered paint chipped all over the bottom of the front bumper. I guess from read this that those plastic parts chip especially easily although I've got a tiny scratch on the hood too. Any suggestions about repairing that or at least making it look better without spending a fortune at the body shop?

No complaints otherwise, it's a great car!

That just recently happened to me, and i got a newly painted rear bumper, scuff free

I had one scuff from unloading tires but it drove me nuts.
