Question Do you like the 09 Fit??

Well, yeah, im surprised that nobody has made this thread before. If you can give me your answer and what you think.

Me personally, i like it. Sure it looks really bad from some angles, but then from others it looks nice. It has way more creature comforts, and i think it will do good.

Undecided; I'd have to see it in person. From the official Honda preview pics I didn't like the exterior at all, but the ones I've seen by the online reviews this week it's actually not too bad.

The interior, there's no question I like the additional features like dead pedal, built-in mileage info, telescoping steering wheel, etc. Transplant those into an '08 Fit and I wouldn't even hesitate to buy one

Not for me, but it will sell

I think it will sell like blazes, but I don't like what they did with the front of it. To me, it looks like a completely different car from the side. From an angle, you almost can't tell.

I actually like bits of it, like the front headlamps, which are fierce. I sort of like the rear taillights and re-design of the hatch (It's angular now instead of so round). I love the equipment that's now included.

I don't like that they are projecting lower gas mileage! Isn't that what people are buying the car for??? I also don't like the side mirrors that looks like they are on fragile rods. And why do cars always have to get BIGGER in the US?? We all need to go on a diet, including our cars! Size the Fit for the Japanese and sell it to FIT people!

I'm kind of bummed that just when I get my Fit, there will be many more of them on the road! Wanted to be unique for a while.

bias?

I own an 08 BBP MT and love it. It appears that many 07-08 owners dislike the aesthetics of the 09. I think the 09 is superior in some aspects and inferior in others. It's DIFFERENT! Change happens. I'm reveling in my 08 but if I were buying a car today I might well order and then love an 09. I do, however, think selling an 07-08 to buy an 09 would be silly unless your 07 had high miles already.

Likewise, I wouldn't mind an '09 for its improved interior features, and probably wouldn't have too big a problem with the exterior.

However, it's not just the new Fit's exterior I don't like; the last few years cars have been moving to a supposedly "sportier" look, which apparently equals more hard angles and "looks meaner." The Civic did this, as did the Ford Focus (my parents just bought the latter, and man do the chrome radiator plates make it look ugly...).

Personal taste though.

I am not sure if I like the redesign or not. I would need to see it in person first. The front and rear looks good from what I can tell in the pictures, but the profile strikes me as rather boring and common looking.

The added comfort and convienence features are GREAT and well thought out - but the steering wheel design leaves much to be desired (again, in person the steering wheel may be ok).

So, I will withhold from final judgement until I can see it up close. It does appear to be an attractive sporty design ... we will see.

From the pictures, like most cars, the 09 looks better from some angles than others. Final judgement will have to come in person.

I've got the same observations as you...That "meaner" look is across the board as well as the Incredible Shrinking Rear Windows. The new Fit looks more aerodynamic from the side, for sure, due to the stretched windshield, but somehow that makes the nose of the car look overgrown to me.

Looks like the "Love it!" people are winning at this point!

To me the 09 vs 07/08 windows look almost exactly the same? Either way, with the new rear headrests they are reporting a 33% increase in visibility out the rear.

Well, I'd have to measure the windows to be sure, and perhaps it is a small difference, but I am also comparing with the Toyota Matrix and the Scion xD, xB, etc. where the B pillars are HUGE and the rear window is less than a foot tall. The Versa and the Mazda 3 still have good large windows. I see a trend and I would hate to see the Fit fall into that trend of smaller windows/less visibility.

I need to see it in person first. I really don't think the manufacturer pictures did the 1st gen Fit justice either...

Hard not to, the pre-'09 headrests absolutely killed rear visibility. I'm glad the new headrests are like the '08's middle-rear one, they're there when you need them, but the collapse right down when unused.

Me, I drive with both rear headrests off, and only put them in if someone's in the back seat.

Frankly, it's too bad Honda addressed virtually every complaint people had with the interior, but made the exterior less attractive (IMHO, and as I said, I'm reserving judgement 'til I actually see it in person).

The choices were kinda limiting for the pole. While the exterior of the new Fit is fugly to me, I do like most of the interior. Not a fan of how the new HVAC controls are set up though.

I like the new Fit but I would like it even more if it was only a bit smaller like the JDM Fit (Jazz).

I definitely prefer the exterior of the '08 no question. But there seems to be 2 diff. looks of the '09. The ones from Japan looks like an egg and the ones for North America looks like a platypus from the side some one already suggested. Regardless, i plan to get the '09 Canadian model for the improved interior and better engine.
